Hi All

Just wandering if people could give some advice on the three digital art photos I have just uploaded. This is the first time I have tried something like this and would love to hear some thought?

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539222.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539222.jpg', '/') + 1) . ' and ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539224.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539224.jpg', '/') + 1) . ' and ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539232.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539232.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

I like the first one best, but I'd suggest erasing the effect layer from the sky only, letting the real sky come through. The posterization (?) isn't too appealing. The other two aren't my cup of tea honestly. I think they're better off as pictures.

Thanks bdenny

I will try the first one with the suggestion you gave and post it again.

Hows this

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539236.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539236.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Thanks Magenmarie

Any thoughts on the other two. I like the third one even though the gradient of colours is so intense

I think the changes made to the first one really bring out the foreground and tree but keep it looking like a picture.
I like the design of the last one, but the gradient doesn't work for me. What is it? It's interesting either way. And for the bird, I'd try an effect that either sharpens it or take it even further. I sorta like the 'cutout' effect in photoshop.

Thanks again bdenny

How about this

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539263.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/69572/thumb/539263.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

In my opinion, they all look like too much photoshop, or perhaps not enough. It's fairly easy to tell you just ran one or two filters over them. To me, they just look old, like something you'd expect to see in 1992 or out of Photoshop 4.

Should also mention, that I like the shots themselves, and would probably prefer them if they were processed straight. Especially the first one. Sorry I gave the bad news first.

I think the new bird is an improvement on the old one. But the original would still be better with a bit of sharpening.
