Week 8 this weeks submissions will not count towards the DPL and we will have a week off. Thanks for answering my question langdon and I look forward to the playoffs, should we be attending.

MattO

And then to continue, how goes it go beyond that? Will it be 3 brackets of 4 teams? (each division winner?) Has there been any official decision because the FAQ leaves this way up in the air.

According to what Langdon posted, the playoffs schedule and format will be posted today or tomorrow.

his relationships with Sorenstam, Jordan, and Federer are defined by trash talk, stat following, and fierce competitiveness ... you sure we're talking about the same Tiger Woods?

Being a bit selective as to who we point the finger at, are we? I merely responded to a comment made by another person...but I guess you missed that.

The team experience has been a great one and the comment about the "blind leading the blinder" made earlier couldn't be farther from the truth. We all stand to gain from a team environment regardless of the "skill level" or "experience" the individuals bring to the table. Right now I have two 6+ scores sitting on my home page and that's a FIRST for me. My average scoring has been higher and my entries have been better than they were prior to the DPL. Granted, it's not near the same caliber as the Ribbon Hawgs (yet), but I have a goal and with the help of my team, we can all get there.

I'll echo the team environment thing really being a great learning experience. In all honesty, we really didn't stand a chance in our bracket but that didn't dampen our enthusiasm for the experience in the least. I, personally, have learned a LOT from my teammates, mostly just from getting other viewpoints on shot choices, ideas, and processing possibilities. It's been very interesting and educational to be on a team where the photographers' styles vary considerably. I've learned to look at my own work more carefully and critically, and to examine the possibilities a bit further than I would have on my own. Despite my initial hesitation, I'm very pleased with the way the league is going from my perspective.

And did I mention that we actually beat the Hogs for three days? :-)

(And congrats on the two 6+ scores going at the same time!!)

Yah, but he's not COMPETING with them, he isn't beating them head-to-head; he never has anything bad to say about vanquished opponents, or about opponents he is about to face for that matter.

only because he is so focused in a tournament. i have heard when he plays Jordon and other friends (head to head) he talks trash allot. The difference is the trash talk is friendly as I think Doc's was as well.

Deb, believe me, you guys had me sweating all week. I was quite nervous we were going down.

As far as Tiger goes, unless we're hanging out with him who knows if he trash talks or not? He doesn't do it in the media, which is appropriate and great, but what about when he's in the clubhouse or on the links? There could easily be some friendly banter back and forth.

But wouldn't you rather be on a team with people who liked you?

why wouldn't head to head decide it? I mean if you beat a team why should they make the payoffs and you don't if you have the same number of wins

I guess you have a point. The comparison I was making is that I am more comfortable with professional golf than with professional football, say, or basketball, because I prefer to see people respecting their opponents. A little friendly trash-talk between people who hoist a beer afterwards is a different order of thing, and sure that's what Doc's doing, I agree.

But in the larger sense, I still deplore the modern tendency towards braggadocio in competition, and I admire champions who maintain their humility as their fame mushrooms.

Still, your point is well-taken: DPC is a community of friends, and probably nobody is taking any of this seriously. So I stand more or less corrected :-)

Because if you and I both have 4-1 records playing against the same oppos, and you beat me head-to-head, then there's someone else I beat that you lost to. In the event of a 3-way tie, even head-to-head may not work anyway.

If they're still doing it the way they did last season (or the last time I helped write the playoff rules anyway), If two teams have the same record the team with the higher season average will prevail, and that seems perfectly rational to me. There were also a bunch of other contingencies in case the season averages were identical, but realistically how often will that happen?

yeah, i heard a rumour that Wayne Huzinga underwrote the ribbonhogs, and that as soon as they claim the crown, he's going to break up the team ;-)

Even though we had to be in the same conference as the Hogs (nothing but admiration for the Hogs' outstanding abilities but frustration at knowing it would be next to impossible to beat them no matter how hard we tried) these past few weeks on DPL have been amazing. I felt truly honored to get onto Critical Mass - I felt pretty intimidated going into the season - but the advice, critical eyes and candor of my teammates defintely made me step my photos up a notch. I ended the season with a far better personal average than I expected, and saw some amazing stuff from my teammates as well.

But next time - PLEASE put us in a different conference from Jason's team, LOL :-)

Well said! Good point! Question: Do the teams "re-seed" for Season "2"? I apologize if this has already been asked and answered. It's not in the DPL FAQ. I checked. Impossible to check all forum threads. Please indulge a stupid person.

Is there a problem with the playoff picture? We are getting to the last day before they start on the second of July. As far as we know.

Just wondering!?!
