I have read and I'm not sure if I do understand what will happen at the end of the regular season. Will there be a week off between regular season and playoffs so we know what teams will be in? Or will every team that has a possibility of being in the playoffs(pending week5 results) have to submit to CYA of wether you are in or out of the playoffs? From the FAQ

"Week 1: The season is announced, the free agent pool opens, and team captains can begin to create their teams.
- Week 2: The teams are automatically placed into divisions, divisions automatically placed into conferences, and conferences automatically placed into leagues.
- Week 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7: The regular season season begins with the first challenge announced.
- Week 9: Once the results from Week 7 are in, the playoffs will begin and last for two “challenge weeks”.
- Week 11: Once the results of the first round of playoffs are in, the finals will begin."

So this means that week 8 is an off week to determine the results from the last round of regular season(which are currently in submission stage)? We have someone going on vacation and I dont want them to worry about getting a shot in while they are on vacation if they dont have too.

it seems there is a week off. we don't know for sure how many teams will make it though.

It would appear that there is no gap week:

Regular Season

Round 1
May. 14th, 2007 - May. 30th, 2007

Round 2
May. 21st, 2007 - Jun. 6th, 2007

Round 3
May. 28th, 2007 - Jun. 14th, 2007

Round 4
Jun. 4th, 2007 - Jun. 20th, 2007

Round 5
Jun. 11th, 2007 - Jun. 27th, 2007

Season Playoffs

Round 1
Jun. 27th, 2007 - Jul. 15th, 2007

Round 2
Jul. 16th, 2007 - Jul. 31st, 2007

***********

Oh, wait, I see the confusion: there actually IS a gap if you look closely, 20th-7th is missing (or soemthing liek that, I am frazzled....)

Well those 2 answers really cleared it up! LOL

Bear where is week 8 in the schedule from the FAQ's I quoted. I'm still not sure what to think.

See addendum to my post; I'll wait for some official to sort it out, and just keep taking pictures :-)

You are correct. In the WPL we did NOT have a week off between the regular season and playoffs, everyone that had a chance to make it to the playoffs entered just in case. The DPL will have a week off to determine the teams that make it to the playoffs. That way you will know when entering the challenge if your team is in the playoffs or not.

So, in practical terms:

We are currently voting on Week 4, this week's challenges are for Week 5, and the challenge announced at rollover tonight is a non-DPL challenge as we wait to see who are the playoff teams?

Thats the way I read it, but I'd like some confirmation about that as the wording seems to suggest that, but I'd hate to not be as it sounds.
Honestly a week off would do me good, I'm filling in for the staff photographer this week and I have a TON of work to do this next couple of weeks.

Bump!

Was just thinking the same thing, does the "Where´s Waldo" and the open challenges announced on the tuesday/wednesday rollover count for the first week of playoffs or not?

Bump again... Still hoping for an answer.

Bump indeed! We're wrapping up the details on the playoffs and should have a finalized schedule on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Waldo challenge does NOT count towards the playoffs. When we determine the winners after Round 5 (ending next Wednesday, the 27th), the schedule will be announced, and new challenges specifically for these matches will be scheduled.

Thanks, Langdon. You can go ahead and reserve a nice seat for Team 20D in the playoffs. ;)

Thanks Langdon, the time off will do the teams that make it some good, they can regroup and set their sites for the finals.

Thanx for taking the time to reply Langdon, look forward to seeing the finalized schedule when it´s announced :)

Hey Larus, I'm not entirely sure, but you guys may want to plan on being in the playoffs - just to be on the safe side, you know? :-)

As long as he reserves the trophy for us...

Pride goeth before the fall, Jason. You're set up beautifully, a you have been from the minute you created the team. If you win, everyone will ignore it as an obvious result from so stacking the deck. But if you happen to lose, you're toast.

Heh - and we had them beat for three whole days. Woo hoo! :-)

Well said. Not going to happen in this case hopefully, but well said... :)

I remember when WPL was first getting set up, I was in favor of making the teams via a draft, or by random assignment out of A,B,C pools just so there wouldn't be any stacked teams like the Ribbon Hogs.

Doc, I agree with Levyj that, in your position, with a TEAM AVERAGE over 7.0, a little less braggadocio and a little more humility might be easier for the rest of us to stomach. I mean we all KNOW that each of you guys, individually, is a champion right? I'm not sure I see where's the glory in all of you banding together to sweep this competition, BUT I can certainly see potential glory for whoever manages to BEAT y'all, if it ever happens...

I think that one of the really nice things about DPL is allowing various photogs to get together to help each other out on challenge entries. For those with teams built with photogs floundering in the 5 to 5.5 range most of the time, it can be hard to provide good feedback that will be able to boost people's skills (and subsequently scores) very much - it turns into the blind leading the blinder...

I am not knocking any of the teams or how they were built (heck, this is all for fun right!?!) , but I would sure like to benefit from the skills and eye of those at the top of the DPC site a little more. Having the teams a little more distributed could really make this a different kind of cool fun.

Right, that was sort of the point I was getting at. Somehow the segregation of the best into a single, powerful entity never sits real well with me. But it IS just a game, and lawd knows I'm not MAD at Doc or any of them, nothing like that... They're all great folks and fine shooters.

I'm in favor of you (or anyone else) talking as much trash as humanly possible :) Everybody needs a nemesis. Everyone else has and should continue to have the same opportunity to stack a team. Surely the friggin' slobs don't have ALL the heavy hitters on dpc.

Rage on Doc ... the mob needs a target

:)
