Between the Neverending Work Project and our new little one I finally scheduled a photoshoot. Its been over nine months since I photographed anyone in the studio besides wife or kids. Here are the results:

This first shot was intended to be a warmer image than the rest so it has a slightly redder hue.

Thanks for your comments,

Kevin

Something about her eyes in the first one gives me the heebs. Other than that, great work.

Thanks Melissa & Michael.

I wonder, ragamuffingirl if its how here eyes natuarlly look (her eyes are larger in her face and generally more open and clear than with other individuals I've photographed) or if its something about how the light is hitting them.

Thanks again for the comments.

Ahhhhh, the railroad tracks Model. I like her. :) Glad to see you shooting again Kevin. I like these, they seem thoughtful and comtemplative. The BW's are very nice also.

Well, isn't THAT a coincidence! I was just perusing a new local model on OMP, and you were the first photog to tag her; I thought 'cool, Kevin is finally back!' and now, here you are...

(actually, I thought 'Crap, now he's gonna soak up all the new talent again!')

;)

welcome back!

I think it's the light hitting her eyes. You didn't use the dodge tool on her whites did you? When I first saw that one, I thought you used the rubber doll technique on her eyes, but couldn't figure out why you would do that.

No, I didn't do any spot editing to her. I just covered up an extraneous highlight off to the side. What you see on her is really how the shot was. She just has large, bright & open eyes and I'm assuming that this is what generated the effect (well, that plus the lighting).

Thanks, Jen. This subject is very easy to work with and lovely. I got some strip lights and wanted to work on some edgy lighting so I'm glad to see words like "thoughtful" & "contemplative". I wanted to shoot something with more depth to it for some portraits.

haha yeah, right

I'm just now getting a little time back to shoot. I noticed that you've shot with someone named "Red". I've been wanting to schedule a session with her for some time. Maybe we could all plan some outing together and shoot some nice outdoor portraits.

That sounds great! Red is lots of fun to work with, professional, timely, funny, sweet....

yep - anytime you're ready!
