Do you, as a photographer, have a desire, a dream, and a vision?
Or, do you just use your camera to enter challenges?

| I enjoy the seeing and the process. Where does that put me? The challenges are just an outlet. |

| Some of us have dreams and passions in other directions. Just because I am not using my camera to better the world does not make me less of a person. |

I don't think it is sad. For many, dpc is just a game. Something to pass some time with. There is nothing wrong with that, and no shame in it.
I suspect those that "just" enter challenges have dreams, passions and visions elsewhere in their life. |

As a photographer, I DO have a desire, a dream, and a vision. Problem is my camera has a different vision than mine.

| I use my camera because I enjoy taking pictures, This weekend we went to Meadowfest, I took over 200 pictures hopeful I have a few good ones. I love to play with my camera by using different filters and play with the different setting. Then I enjoy going into photoshop and playing with the pictures. |

Thank You! DPC is just a game for me as it is for others on here as well. If I only use my camera for challenges, so what. Does that make me less of a so-called photographer? What makes a photographer anyway? Surely you can't go by the vague definition offered up in the dictionary or Wikipedia(A photographer is a person who takes a photograph using a camera). If that was the case then 95% of the population would be photographers. Almost everybody has taken a picture of something or somebody at one time or another.
To many people here take this vitual ribbon crap to seriously. I personally don't care if my entries finish with a 1 or an 8. I don't own my equipment because I want to enter challenges nor do I own it because I have a dream, desire or some vision to become a photographer or considered an artist. I do what I do because I like doing it.

I have a desire. The dream and vision are quite blurry though. I don't have any goals with photography beyond satisfying my personal desire to make photos. I don't intend to make a career out of photography. I don't intend to seek fame and fortune with it either.
I enjoy it as a hobby, and hope to continue that until I'm too weak to hold a camera.

I have a "real" job. Photography for me is a hobby that allows me to decompress and chill. I have enough work on my plate without starting a second "bidness". Doesn't make me any less of a decent photographer, IMO.

Photography is a fun hobby for me. Something to pass the time, to get me out of the house (I'm sort of a shut-in a lot of the time), something I can feel good about.
DPC is not only a game, but for me it's become a sort of anti-challenge. I work hard to put images in the challenges that can incite reaction, yet won't score well because they aren't usual DPC fodder. That's the game *I* play.
Unfortunately, that game doesn't work well for DPL... I'm a bit of a failure at *that*. |

| I have my desires and dreams with my photography, not to be a great professional but to take awesome shots that make people oooh and ahhhh. I turn down many portrait jobs, people love my work, but it is not for me personally. I like DPC more for the learning than the challenges. My last challenge was in January. I have one up for voting now just because I liked the subject.. it's doing about the same as my others but it's ok .. the challenges are more for fun to me and I don't see myself ever getting a ribbon here. I'm not a competitive person at all. |

Neither. I use my camera because photography is soothing to me in my ultra chaotic life. If I'm having a bad, stressful day, I can go shoot something and I instantly feel better, more centered in my existence.

This one for me, a long way off but i am trying to do a project of Dublin at night in a street style. i have started but need to get out a bit more at weekends.

I have a dream, but like most dreams, it's a little hazy. I'm never quite sure what it really is until I get there. In the mean time, I see what I can do about finding the path. Maybe photography is part of mine, maybe not. But there's only one way to find out and that's what I'm doing. See you in the next challenge. :-) |
