Droopy drawers, I just get a kick out of watching them try to walk without having them drop on their own. Maybe they need them that way to allow room for all the peircings they have down there. ;)

Badonkadonk :-D

I think you are intepreting my statement a little too far. I don't think we need to go walking around teaching the natives they are "wrong" for not wearing anything.

Let me ask you why someone would wear something like that? What purpose does it serve? (and I'm sure there is a purpose and I'm sure it wasn't by acccident.) That answer will likely answer your own question.

I'd assume to attract males (likely the ones in the baggy pants). It is a function our species necessarily developed.

Ofcourse there is another reason - to look like all the other girls in the rap videos. Which does bring me to another point, cultural norms do evolve/devolve over time and differently from culture to culture. You and I both are likely more accepting of things like this than our grandparents or parents and definitely more accepting than, for instance, strict Muslim societies.

Agreed. However, just because we are more accepting doesn't prevent natural consequences.

My assumption is that shorts like that are meant to arouse men. Frankly it's a half step up from baboons walking around with their labia flaming red announcing to the world "I'm a ready!" If that isn't her purpose than she's being a tease and that has its own issues.

My ultimate point is that sexuality is one of the most powerful forces in the human experience. I'm not sure she is serving her own best interest by flinging it around on a Saturday night after a few brews. Lots of hardship can come from only a little indiscretion. You don't need to have spent a single day in Sunday school to know there is truth in that.

Quite possibly. I saw a lot of that while working in bars.

I really can't argue against that. Everything you said there was true. But, she (not us) is responsible for her own well-being and ultimately her own reproductive choices.

While they do affect her, they cause you nor I nor some random child on the street any harm. Any discomfort we have with her appearance is strictly our cross to bare.

You gotta know that she is wearing that outfit for attention; however, sometimes the attention we're looking for isn't the kind we're getting. I think it's perfectly acceptable to comment on how her outfit makes you feel no matter what her weight is.

Funny how people say that she should have the right to wear what she wants but we shouldn't have the right to say how stupid she looks when she does it.

Ah, the classic argument of the intolerant and judgmental: you're intolerant of my intolerance!

You've got it exactly correct. She's allowed to make whatever choices she wants for herself, as are you about your clothing. You, who are in no way affected by those choices, shouldn't judge her or her choices, any more than anyone else should judge you.

This isn't about rights, by the way. Of course it's your right to think whatever you like and, in enlightened countries, state your opinion aloud.

But having the right to do something doesn't mean you're right to do it.

To clarify a few things that I think have been misineterpreted....

1. I never comments on the size of the woman. I never implied that the size had anything to do with the inappropriatness of her attire. In fact all I commented on was that friends don't let friends dress like this. At some point in time someone should have stepped in and said, you know, you probably shouldn't wear those shorts, much less buy them.

Very ture. But since she doesn't have the body of a model her friends should have said no. The whole way up the street she ketpo asking her bf to pull her shorts out of her butt. All I could think is lady there isn;t enough material to do that!"

******

2. This owman chose to make a spectacle of herself by going out in public dressed like this. She knew full well what she was doing and thought she was funny for doing it.

So how does that affect you and why should you care? Are you her superior?

To all those offended by the picture or the discussion please beleive me when I say this was never about a woman's figure, just her choise to make a spectacle of herself by dressing inappropriately, and the choices of her Wingmen not to correct her.

Look, she just scared a few people so bad they probably went sterile. That's good for the over-populated planet which is good for all of us. Kudos to this gal for doing her part.

Except, shame and humiliation are powerful tools in the arsenal of a civilized society when enforcing social norms and mores.

Or didn't you read "The Scarlet Letter" in high school? :)

Very few things we do have zero effect on others. Her obesity is making others pay higher medical premiums and possibly even higher taxes (if she was getting VA care. I heard someone talk about military above.) Her shorts may be causing men to look twice and get in trouble with their significant others who are lighter in the "stuff" department.

There's really not much out there that exists in a vacuum...

I quit. You're right. Let's go back to stoning women who sleep with people they're not married to. :P

And we've used bandwidth and electricity debating it. Some have raised their blood pressure. I'm sure Eug has done something wrong. :-)

Sorry dude but sometimes I'm very judgemental of people's choices. I'm not affected when a man chooses to skip out on his kids but I'll betcha I have an opinion on it. I'm not affected when I see a meth head go to jail but I have an opinion on it.

I couldn't care less as to what her weight is and I also don't care what she wears. Just don't shove a pair of shorts up your ass and not expect me to comment on it.

Ahh, but you see, I wasn't advocating a return to the past with regard to women's rights, merely providing a widely recognized example of how groups enforce group norms through the singling out and isolation of a group member who doesn't conform to expected group standards.

Look around ModelMayhem (especially in the Atlanta area) and you'll see tons of photos emphasizing the badonkadonk. I think she is weaaring it because to her it IS the norm.

I would prefer an analogy to Bonobos where sex is a substitute, or a way of dealing with, aggression. :) Nothing wrong with that, imo.

How do you know that she is not able to take care of herself by either being able to defend herself against unwanted advances, or is incapable of dealing with prophylaxis of pregnancy and STDs? How do you know the man in the picture is not her husband?

As a big girl, I have learned that there are just some things that big girls should not wear in public. This is exhibit A (IMHO). Of course, kudos to she who is obviously comfortable, at least psychologically...probably not physically, in her skin. I'll keep my own voluptuous curves covered up for the sake of humanity, but you go, girl. ;)
