In Canada we have a Goods and Service Tax of 6% that has to be charged. What I would like to do is be able to write a program to subtract the GST from the total.
Example: If I sell something for 53.00 tax inc. I need to figure out how much the product was and how much the tax was. In this case it is easy because if you take 50.00 and put the 6% tax on it, it is 53.00. Numbers will not always be that round.
If you go to this site //www.gtaproperties.com/gstcalculator.asp and enter an amount and select subtract GST it will show you exactly what I want.
I would like to have some math formulas that I may be able to implement into a program so I don't have to do the calculations each time.
Looking forward to hearing from all you mathematicians.

All you need to do is divide you total by 1.06 to get the original price.
For example 53.00 / 1.06 = 50.00
Hope that helps.
