With the 30 day B&W challenge drawing to a close and thinking about how much fun it was I thought I may like to put this idea into effect should anyone else be interested in it.. ok here goes.

I suggest we make 2 groups, Voters / submitters, they do not have to be even numbers on each side, my guess would be at least 8 people willing to vote only on the submissions and at least 10 people submitting to the challenges.

how it would work: there will be a topic, the submitters will be given 4 days to submit and the voters will then take the other 3 days to vote. the scores will be added together and the winner will suggest the next topic.

Just an extra bit of fun if anyone is interested please post here so we can start making a list.

The voters would simply have to leave the vote as a comment on the image(of cause with a comment is better)..

Anyone?

Hey - how did I miss this? Sounds like fun. Since I was a participant in the BW challenge, I'll submit.

I can vote if you like.

I can't be the only submitter. C'mon BW challenge participants!
06/19/2007 01:26:47 AM · #9
I think I would like to participate too.

I'd play. What if the winner, in addition to naming the next topic, also then becomes a voter, and one of the voters cycles in to shooting?

I can do either - though it looks like you need submitters.

I'll play. I'd be a shooter.

If you are making a list add me please to a submitters. When should we start, what is the subject, B&W or color???
06/21/2007 05:04:08 PM · #20
Yes, when are we starting?? I don't know why I thought it would be BW - will it?
06/21/2007 06:10:48 PM · #21
I think MAK fell off the face of the earth lol...I think by the way he was talking we would start after the 30 days of of Ordinary Objects are over. That is what I thought anyway.

ETA: What happens if we start on Monday July 2nd and send out the challenge...On July 5th all submissions must be in and for the 6th, 7th, and 8th we vote. Then we can start all over again on Monday the 9th. I think that was probably what MAK was thinking too...

I have a question of how this challenge works technically. How does submitter submit without the voters seeing their names. We can't just use a forum here. Is someone going to set up a different website? Are D&L going to code something here?

You could have one person each week be the person submitted to(for example MAK) via email or a PM with the link to the shot in their workshop. MAK could right click save as and re-upload into his portfolio so that each person's photo would say it was done by MAK. MAK could then post to this thread and he could put a blurb in the comments not to fav it until the challenge is over and the owner comes out of anonymity. Just a thought. I am too busy to play this game, but have fun, I'll peek in later to see how things are going.

The only problem i forsee with the idea that jdaniels proposed is that (i am assuming) Joe is referring to using comments as a way to vote. This causes a little bit of a problem because other people can see the comments. I can try and code some sort of voting mechanism so that it is private and host it on my server. What do people think?
