I would contact the website owners. They have a contact us page:

"Contact Us"

They should be able to remove it.

Have you send a complaint already? (probably yes)
05/28/2007 07:19:34 PM · #4
sure, i've sent them a complaint.
but i want to tell HER directly and myself what i think.
:) sorry, just a bit mad.

i stumble. it's an awesome service, however I see ALOT of "stolen" (aka hotlinked) DPC photos on people's profiles.

just contact that person and let her know that you don't want her using your photo without your permission.

Nobody's right about the Contact Us link but I've found that they're very hands off when it comes to stuff like that. You might get lucky though. I would contact "twotigers" first and give her a chance to right things.

(btw, twotigers is paying you a compliment by using your photo. Just a side thought!)

Well this is just a blog. She is not profiting off your picture. You should take it as a complement. She has the youtube on her webpage which I though was real funny.....//www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIiFGMYpLUc&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fvideo%2Estumbleupon%2Ecom%2F

Unfortunately you will probably be running into this problem a lot Svetlana. If this sort of usage bothers you then you probably want to do what Brad did and watermark all your photos although you can't do that with the challenge photos.

There may not be alot you can do, since in the heading its says the photo is "by sliverfoxx, dpchallenge.com". I had an image that was found on stumbleupon, but had been edited to be a gif with rain falling. I joined stumbelupon and emailed the person directly to remove it and/or switch it with the dpchallenge image. They were happy to comply. Stumbleupon is set up to link to interesting things on the web and I think thats what they tried to do with yours. You could try and ask her to remove it, but unfortuantely I don't think the admins will do anything :-/

I would send her a bill. Try and contact her and when you do send her a bill for $x amount for using the picture, and then $x amount for a daily use. Then take her to Judge Judy...
05/28/2007 07:25:47 PM · #10
I think it is funny that she implies that it is her. "I am a 39 year-old single woman from On A Small Island In, Washington, USA"

That is funny.
05/28/2007 07:28:51 PM · #11
no, she is not funny, this is not a compliment and i do not like it at all. only i have this right to put my images where i want to.

but how can i contact her?? i haven't seen anything on that page.

well, i knew it would happen sooner or later.

I will definitely do what Brad does, thank you Yanko.

Whether it is being used for resale or not it is still illegal to steal someone's work for whatever reason and especially bad to not give the photographer the credit for the "great photograph" Personally when a photo of mine is stolen I do not consider it a compliment, this is my livelihood and if it is good enough to display on your site it is good enough to pay for the priviledge, or else go and shoot it yourself. Too many people think photography is a hobby, there are many many people who live off of their work.

This makes me mad.

yes. ok, i haven't sold anything yet, so you probably can say it's a hobby, but it is my photo. i won't let a 40 year old woman use my face as her profile pic:)

You know what is great about my ugly mug is that nobody would want to pretend to be me. As soon as you get this all sorted out, you will probably laugh a little that a 40 year old dreams to look like you.

[url//www.stumbleupon.com/sign_up.php[/url]. Then you can go to the profiles and send them a a message from the contact button. You may have to add them as a friend to message I can't remember. Hope this helps.
Edit:Just use djtiek's link its the same one, except it works. :)

you seem very upset about this and I agree with you 100%!

I do enjoy the idea of billing her. But to answer your question, the way you contact her is by joining stumbleupon.com
Stumble Now!

Once you add a profile picture (because I don't think you can do much contacting unless you have a pic), tell her how unhappy you are. I'm sure she'll understand.

stuff gets lifted from DPC all the time - I deleted my portfolio here and move all my challenge entries into my workshop folder - they'll have to dig deep into those challenges to find digitalknight!

It's sad that it's so - but the better you are, the more amazing your work, the more often this will happen off of this site. The forums have these posts all the time.

I'm sorry you're upset - if you decide to hide your stuff I'll miss your portfolio -

i understand your displeasure here, svetlana, but i think going in with both barrels blazing is not going to get you far. perhaps you could you politely demand that she not only credit you, very obviously, in the text below the shot, but also link to your dpc prints shop, if you have one. i found one of my shots on a similar site, but, luckily, the poster had credited me, and happily put up my dpcprints link when i asked her to.

don't think i got any sales from it, but it's still firlmy identified as my work. which is a start.

Google her, Google Earth her, and then steal her car, drive it to the local mall, lock the keys inside with a note that says "how do you like that!"
05/28/2007 07:44:09 PM · #21
ok, i've registered but "i don't have a permission to contact this user"...
even though i've added as a friend.
you all are wise:)
that line that the pic is mine shows only when you are registered and logged in btw.
ah
:)

I wonder if SC would be open to the idea of allowing us to upload watermarked versions of our challenge entries for display once the voting is over?

pro or not it is your image legally and you shouldn't have to put up with it. I would do as xianart recommends and approach it calmly (actually I can't imagine you not trying that first anyway), but do anything you can to make sure they know it is being used without permission. I understand the part about it being a compliment but think she is totally in the wrong to give the impression that it is her. She's actually probably a 52 year old male petafile trying to rope in young boys. I wouldn't want an image of me, especially one of this calibar. good luck.
