These are my favorite pictures so far of various subjects. I'm really working on getting good compostion as this is what seperates snapshots from photography. I also love getting those little casual moments that most people would not think of.
All photos are from a 30d and either the Tamron 28-75mm or the Canon 50 1.8. Any advice is appreciated.

You are very talented, love the pictures, especially Sarah and Kaylah with the diffuse glow. I have got to learn that one. Very Nice!

My fave is the one of Sarah sitting on the bench.... she really stands out in her pale outfit against the darker saturated background.... really nice sharpness to the photo and I like the tension in the composition.... You have also captured an adorable genuine smile.... great job...
2nd fave... the 2 girls together.... very genuine smiles for what must have been a special day for them....

Thanks for the kind words, I strive so hard not to produce plain snapshots. There is definately a line between snapshots and photography....

my fav is the cat one at bottom and the shot with the two girls smiling. cute shot but i think the second one is softened a bit too much. they are young and i doubt their skin is bad .. yet. |

The ones I like are the ones where the point of view is even with the subject. The two of the ballet shoes are less successful because you are looking down on them - like you were standing there, looked down, saw the shoe and shot - they seem snapshot-ish. The cat, the little boy, the girl on the bench - in all of these you took the time to 'get to their level' - less snapshot-ish. Sometimes the difference between an okay shot and a great shot is simply bending your knees. |

Thanks dahkota, i'll have to take that into consideration about the levels. It was hard getting two giddy girls to stand still long enough to get exactly what I wanted :-)

I really like almost all of them, still my favorites are Sarah on the bench and Sarah and Kayla. All of them show that you are really talented, and have a good sense for composition. I think you should add all of them to your portfolio, so you can get more comment. Good work. |
