Due to being taken outside the challenge dates, the blue ribbon for the Silky-Smooth challenge has been disqualified. Congrats to our new winners!

So does this Polish girl keep the 8+ she got on her first entry as her average score received? :-D

Well, according to previous statements by SC yes she does, and I don't agree with that at all.

Ouch. What a shame.

PS: Why wasn't this noticed sooner? Is that just the nature of the beast?

Ooooh! Tough loss.

"Now, Now that's a picture that didn't win cause ya see, ya see they took it outside of the challenge dates, and, and that's why it was disqualified" says Frank Calianto immitating John Madden.

I think she should keep the score, it was an amazing shot. I mean it seems as if it was an honest mistake. Lets try and be positive and remember that not everyone is out there to cheat and try and beat the system.

Oh, WOW. That is such a bummer when that happens. The DQ is right and it is correct but does not make me feel any better.

It was from a first time submitter and a lot of other photography sites do not have date taken rules like DPC. I hope it was an innocent mistake. But people need to play by DPC rules. :(

yeah, but when you've gotta put a check in the box stating when the image was taken, and knowingly do so when the image didn't fit the dates, IMHO ... you are trying to cheat and beat the system ...

We request proof on every top 5 finisher in every challenge, so if they last the week, it's 99.99% certain they're legal.

maybe english isn't her first language and it was an innocent mistake. gotta admit the shot was rockin'!

No, she shouldn't get to keep the score. An honest mistake? Not when you have to check a box saying the photo was taken within challenge dates.

Why don't we all just go find the best shot we have ever taken, one that will knock the socks off every voter here? Enter it into the next challenge, wait until rollover to get it DQ'ed, then keep that nice 8.0 score and have it boost up our average. Sounds great, doesn't it?

You sold me. Count me in! I need a boost to my average.

it was a great shot indeed, however i was wondering (and severely doubting) if it was indeed taken with the 18-55 at f/22 as stated...
05/23/2007 02:54:28 PM · #23
That's what i was thinking. She only had that one lens in her profile.

ummm guys, before you string the photog up, consider that maybe she just hasn't added the other lenses to her profile, and maybe the date is set wrong on her camera.

Just because someone was dq'ed doesn't mean they are out to cheat. It was her first entry, that tells me it was probably something she didn't understand about the rules.

Play nice.

Always a shame to get a DQ like that. Too bad.
