Use the second button from the right and just add the picture NUMBER:

Technically it seems like a good photo, but it holds no interest for me.

Hi, welcome to DPChallenge. The best way to find out if a shot is good is to enter it into a contest. Most people around arn't going to give you much input untill you get more active in the site. I think you should have posted this one in the current shapes challange. Oh well too late now. Good luck. I would personally like the image but I would like it more with the landscape and people you cut out.

I think you've got some beautiful lines and symmetry in your photo. I agree that one wants to see a bit more foreground.

I also agree that there's no better or more immediate critique than entering your shot in a challenge.

I think you needed to connect this huge mass to something; the ground perhaps, so the viewer may be able to feel the size by means of comparison to other objects and not only take you shot crop for it.
The windows in the front tower have a good potential for a photo.
Welcome and good luck.
And if it’s color it’s color so find something with other colors there to photograph.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I almost never enter challenges and get feed back in the forums whenever I ask for it.

As far as the image goes, I'd like to see a wider shot with something other than just the castle walls. I know you can't control the weather but if you are able to go back try and go on a day where there are a few clouds in the sky to make it more dramatic.

Welcome to DPC - glad to have you on the site.
This is a pretty cool castle and holds a lot of potential. I agree with others - it seems a little bland. Most 'wow' like photos will have some drama - a foreboding sky, a steep and unusual perspective, or connection to a place in some way. The photo as taken has good color and seems reasonably sharp and the lighting is okay - but longer shadows (morning/evening) will help this a bunch.

Unlike what 'snake' said about having to enter challenges to get comments - entering 'side challenges' or uploading pictures and asking for feedback really can work well to improve your shots.

I would recommend making comments about other people's photos - what you like, what you don't - be constructive and others will return the favor...

And don't forget to click "helpful" on comments box under photos that you upload - for those that you do find helpful to you.

It is not a 'bad' picture at all, but difficult to comment on an image that isn't even done yet. Even minimal post processing (standard levels to set white and black points, Standard 'S' adjustment in Curves for contrast, etc.) will improve the quality of the image greatly. Additional sharpening would probably make the castle stand out more.

Cropping the right side to balance the castle across the bottom of the frame would improve its symmetry. Cloning out that distracting cable or pipe or whatever that is running vertical next to the windows might make it look even better. Applying tone mapping or possibly "vivid light" highlighting in the shadow area on the left side of the frame will add visual interest to that part of the composition. The dark area just doesn't stand out as it is.

Because there are no clouds adding a vignette will provide additional visual interest to the sky. This image would be perfect for a sky replacement that included dramatic clouds.

Oh... lest I forget... welcome to DPC and have fun! :)

Thank you for the comments, much appreciated. I have taken on board what you have said and all I can say is watch this space.
I have an entry in the shapes challenge so lets see what comes of that.
