Carmike Cinemas home office is here where I live and my wife works for a bank and she can get tickets 1/2 off to any movie. Even with that savings I have not been to the theater in years because of what everyone is talking about. My kids and wife still goes but I refuse too. I just wait till it comes out on DVD.

I talked it over with my wife, and we have decided to only see adult films from here on out. Then the 13year olds won't be let in. It may ruin my moral standards but...

Just remember, if you run into PeeWee, no matter how big of a fan you are, don't shake his hand.

Yup, bring a date with a big purse. And that's probably why teen boys wear those baggy pants :-D

A lot of theaters, its not against the rules to bring your own food...they just don't advertise that fact. And if they confront you on it, comply. I always bring my own bottled water or soda...why would I pay $3.00 for theirs? That's outragous.

ya know, if you complain to the movie theater manager, he should give you a refund. i've done it before.

Actually, rather than hanging them, I rather use the Pilgrim
method: Stocks. Lock them in the stocks right outside the ticket booth of the theater so the patrons can boo, hiss, hurl epithets, etc. etc. etc. Hell, I'd pay a couple of bucks just to watch that!

I tried again tonight. Went to Shrek with my young boys. All the 5 year olds in the theater were very well behaved. We had a pleasant evening. Teenagers suck.

Spend a TON of money and make your own theater in your house Wait for the movies to come out on DVD and watch it.

When i go to movies i know what you mean. The sad thing is that I know almost all of them at the movies, almost all go to my high school.

Whats really bad is I was at the movies the other weekend and some man answered his phone and just started chatting like he was the only one in the theater...I thought I was going to see my mom get into a fight....she was pissed!

you guys are bitter. public places are public places and that stuff will happen. wait for the dvd if you're that annoyed.

I mean, sure it's sorta obnoxious, but shit, I did that stuff just a few years ago and I bet a few of you guys did too.

And to be honest I'm sure I've done it more recently than I think.

Maybe they should just serve beer and people would be a bit more tolerant?

$19 for a movie

Is that how much they are now in the US? Id be screaming too

LOL I pay $3.00 for morning afternoon and at night $5.00

Me too! I haven't been to another theater in years. We get the current movies too....the same ones that play at the mall and we pay lots less. Smaller theater=less idiots.

But u add a 2 3 dollar cokes and a large popcorn to that and u have 19 bucks.

I dunno, even at the $5 movie I can get a snack and a bottled soda for about $9 total. Two people could go, get all the same stuff and still spend less than $19.

if you spend $9 for one then that makes $18 for two. pretty close to the $19:)

I took my family (wife and 3 kids) to see spiderman at the matinée and after admission and snacks we spent about $60 but that theater is awesome.

wait for movies to come out on dvd...you spend about the same, and you can take that 60 bucks it takes for you to go and sink it into a sweet surround sound for your house. think you go to the movies twice and you spend more money then if you would go away for a weekend.

Right, but some people are paying $19 per person! My point was that at our theater you can pay [the same or] less than that for two people.

$60 is a lot of money...but 5 people and the "theater experience" doesn't make it such a bad deal. Now imagine if you took everyone to the mall. Yikes.

YEAH, and the more they see it annoys you the more they're going to do it! It's no wonder they act this way, look at what people think of them, it's only expected....if you let them annoy you, THEY WIN!

I nor my friends ever did that stuff at the movies.

I think my brother is the same way, to some degree. We both blame our Dad, who has a hollow head and enjoyed crunching granola while we were growing up. I'm full-blown Soft Sound Sensitivity Syndrome.

If actors are act-eating and making slurpy-smacky sounds I change the channel or leave the room. In the workplace, I'm within earshot of the reception desk, where women have always worked. Have you ever noticed that women like to snack constantly at work?!?! What the heck is up with that? The last one had the middle desk drawer reserved for snacks and feminine products! Next time I'll ask for a stamp instead of looking for it for myself! It's a bit of a revolving door up there, but I always let them know how I just cannot concentrate with mouth-noises going on, so no crunching or sucky-sounds.

Oddly, it doesn't bother me while I'm eating or with groups at restaurants. I'm such a freak.

If you're a freak, then so am I. Those noises drive me absolutely crazy. On the bright side, my hearing is so sensitive that I can hear what my daughters are saying when they're whispering upstairs. Shh... don't tell them. ;-)

Ditto, but for different reasons. When you have small children, particularly of breastfeeding age, you just can't go out as a couple anymore. So every week, we have a video at home.

I also got sick of the technical problems at the local theatre. Several movies in a row had some technical problem with the sound or picture. Starwars III was the last straw. I went out of the cinema 3 times to tell them the surround sound wasn't working properly. About 10 minutes from the end of the movie, they changed camera crew shift, and the new guy fixed the sound.

Anyway, now we make a real night in of it. Turn off all the lights, sit on the comfy couch with loads of drinks and snacks. If we need a toilet break, we can have one. Best thing is, if the movie finishes, and we are nice and relaxed, we don't have to move. We can just sleep where we are. :)

Relax people, it's all part of the cinema experience. :)

Awww, can't I just enjoy my life without having any OTHER people in it? :)
