It's %9.50 here I believe. Here = Mobile, Alabama

It's between $7.50 and $10.50 at my local theater. Basically $10.50 when you're most likely to see a movie on weekend nights but $10.25 the rest of the week. Which, sadly, makes it cheaper to see it when it comes out on DVD than to see it in a theater.

Don't you guys need electricity before you can get a theater there in NC?

Kidding...of course, so smile now.

Yes, I too share the same hatred for teenagers showing no respect. I had to get up and move one time cause they wouldn't keep their feet on the floor. No they had to use the chair in front of them like a foot rest even with people (me) sitting in it!

Feet on the floor, hands to yourself, shut up sit down and watch the movie.

I want to build a new age movie theater where the seats have sound proof dividers that you can pull up out of the floor. This way the theater can be filled up and you never have to sit next to someone you don't know when it is packed. Then we could be separated from their obnoxious ways.

General tip

Avoiding dumbed down idiotic Hollywood "movies" normally avoids the dumb and idiotic crowds.

So true.

I don't get out to the theater much these days, but when I do, I'm not shy about being vocal to idiots who ruin the show. It doesn't take much from me, but I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps and I have a very assertive/aggressive/don't f%#$ with me personality coupled with a Drill Instructors booming voice.

Last time I went to the movies was to see "Night at the Museum." There was a kid in there acting like a kid. I told him to can it so I could enjoy the show. He stood up and got tough. I, too stood and repeated myself with a little more umph. The kid was about a foot taller than me, 15 years younger, probably had about 30 pounds on me. All the while I was thinking that I was about to get a mud hole stomped in my chest, but I stood my ground and he sat down and closed his trap. Sometimes it just takes the right attitude.

I bought a big screen TV so I'd never have to go to the theatre again. I can wait for movies to come out on DVD, there are so few good movies anyway.

I hate theatres because of:
-crowds
-people
-tall person always sits in front of me or someone I'm with
-talking during the film
-chewing noise, I can't stand chewing noise or mouth noises (Soft sound Sensitivity Syndrom - it's real)
-uncomfortable seats
-sticky floor
-there might be an imperfection on the screen
-lineups
-waste of money
... and the reasons go on.

Small Popcorn-$25
Medium Size Coca Cola-$12.50

...but you can get the Jumbo Combo for just $5 dollars extra.

And if your really lucky the movie wont totally suck.

Don't ya remember how much fun that was! They're kids! I say let them enjoy life before they actually grow up and have to deal with every day stress and reality. :) Looks like I was probably one of those annoying kids.......oooopsie

I so almost did this. I think it would have worked out bad for me though.

Me too! I haven't been to another theater in years. We get the current movies too....the same ones that play at the mall and we pay lots less. Smaller theater=less idiots.

I can't stand immature teenagers, especially in movie theaters. I am ashamed of my own kind!

Ok...now I really don't want to go tonight!!! We're taking the kids to the drive-in to see Shrek 3...on opening weekend!!! I must be crazy!!!

The one that really upset me...I was waiting for when the Big Lebowski came out in theaters. I wanted to be there opeing night. So, after the movie starts, I have this idiot who keeps kicking the back of my chair. I politely asked him to stop...he called me a bitch and continued to do it through the rest of the movie. I should have gotten the manager...don't know why I didn't. It was just so rude.

Remember the Seinfeld episiods in the movie theater...always, so on the money!

When I was a teenager, I used to find more interesting things to do at the movies! Don't remember much about the films tho??

Such goings on!

The last time I went to the movies for Winged Migration or was it March of the Penguins it was nice and quiet and everyone paid attention to the movie!

Sigh - I must not see the right kind of movies...

That is the sort of thing that I wish people were publicly strung up for.

So, we get together and get rich with a chain of theaters for old folks?
05/19/2007 12:55:22 PM · #46
Isn't there a chain in Florida called 'Suds and Cinema" where you can sit and drink beer and watch a new release movie?

Really? That'd be awesome! As long as there are bouncers.

Edit: Wait, beer would probably cost $18 a glass at a theater. I'd be better off with a 12 pack and a DVD.

We have the BESTEST theater here; the Roxy Cini-gog. It's run basically as a hobby by a restauranteer with a passion for movies. In an old quonset hut, movies are always 2 features for $5, with Tuesdays being 3/$5.
He shows releases just out of the main theatres, indi and older films, and has an annual "Sound of Music" party for charity. It's not unusual to see Howie himself in the tiny ticket booth, and the lobby is plastered with old movie posters and autographed photos of Howie and various stars.
I'm not sure just why, but everyone behaves themselves well there.
The best part, though, is the makeout seats in the back ;)

The best thing you can do is to adjust your expectations. If you expect that there will be kids having noisy fun in the theaters, then it won't be so bothersome at a moderate level. If they go beyond that level, then you can always go tell an usher.

Hey, BeeCee -- wanna go see a movie? ;-)
