I know there's been a lot of talk about this beast, and the gear lust factor is through the roof. I may actually buy one towards the end of the year, although I'm not 100% sure. Having said that, is there anyone here who is definitely getting one for sure? Do you already have a pre-order in place somewhere? If so, what is your reason for getting one (even if it is just because it such a way-cool toy, and you can afford it!)? Let's hear it!

I have placed my order. They've told me to expect it around the end of May. I have a 3-day Lacrosse competition to shoot in June, so I'm *really* hoping it ships on time!

Cool! Some people on other forums are posting that they are getting theirs within a week, so evidently they are at least STARTING to ship. Definitely report back and let us know what you think--hopefully with pictures from the Lacrosse competition!

I'll pick one up with my new car once I win the lottery.

Maybe by the time the mark 4 is out, I'll be able to afford the 3...

I'll definately be getting one, to replace my tired 4Mp 1DMk1 I use for sports.

I have been waiting for the upgrade for the 1DIIN to come out, but Canon have released the 1DIII bit higher here in NZ that I expected, about $7,250 NZ. So I'll be waiting till about August-October before I can order one. Bit of a bummer, but as long as the 1D and 20D hold out it'll be fine. :-).

For what I do it's the logical tool for the job. (I shoot sports for a local paper)

For me it's all about the focusing system, the rest of the features are nice to have but the 1 series focus is miles ahead of anything else IMHO.

Cheers, Me.

On that note, check out these videos of pros using the Mark III. Simply amazing!

How heavy is it compared to the 30D? I'm just curious. I'm in no danger of getting one.

If i didn't save for 600 f4 then definitely i will get MKIII, too bad that i have to wait to next year maybe to afford MKIII, the worst part is that i want to get 400 f2.8L as well, OH MY, how much i will spend just for fun.
