Us; members and registered DPC lovers, are spread all over the globe. USA, Europe, Middle east, Australia, Africa, China, Indochina, Japan, and all over very cold and very hot places, and very urban and very rural places, we are just all over the place.

In the past and before the world turned digital, people used to travel the world to get photos of the different parts, cities, and corners of the world; for reasons as simple as “they just liked to have these photos to print, hang on their walls and look at.”

Can we; members and registered DPC lovers, make another good use of our deployment all over the world? I think we can!
Let’s all, or whoever is interested in such a project, take 3 or 4 or even 1 photo each of the major city or cities around them, post them in basic or minimal editing, and make them available free in an A-4 printable size to all the participants of this project.

I will wait for all the interested people to develop this idea, and I appeal to SC to make it a reality for we, and for carrying this site another mile ahead.

Let’s put our world deployment into, yet, another powerful use.

Thanks everyone.

I noticed I made a mistake with the "Us" above so I made another mistake with "we" within the text to balance things out.

I'm in Seoul, South Korea, and I am in.

I have been here for 6 years and have more gigs of korean pics then braincells( Brad, you have nothing to add.....). There must be about 100gig I have never even opened. Good pics. Tell me what you want, I will prepare printable 8 by 10's. That is really an open offer, but not an unlimited open offer.

Perth Western Australia here, sounds great, I submit that we do night and day shots.

Interesting idea, indeed the world is becoming like a small village these days.

This is actually going to be a good way for members to interact and exchange pictures with each other.

Let's see how this thread develops :)...

I will cover Jordan. I will shoot 5 cities and five important historical places and make them available.

I did not think this would be appealing to Americans, I guess I was right!

Sounds like a good idea. I'm in Pretoria, South Africa. If a lot of people participate, we should limit it to 1 or maybe 2 (day and night) from each person. Otherwise we might end up with hundreds of pictures...

Great we will make this non N American cities.
Two shots each city 1 day 1 night.
and we'll want the city's main features to show? right? I mean we want people ti now that this is Dubai or whatever?

I don't suppose the fact that you posted it when most Americans were asleep had anything at all to do with it. And the title of your thread isn't really descriptive of what the thread is about -- it's kind of cryptic, actually.

I'm about 4 hours from the nearest "major city" if if that is the criteria, I can't.

I'll see what I can do... I like the idea.

well you don't want any americans but my question is who pays for them? you say offer them for free but printing is not free. am i supposed to just buy prints and give to everyone that wants one? that could add up.

I think that Tariq is saying that we'd provide printable files available as free downloads. The A4 size stipluation would mean a fairly large file.

How about showing those cities oer towns that you usually don't see? I live in Kempton Park, the city right on top of Johannesburh International Airport (or O.R. Tambo Int Airport as it is now called) and nobody even knows that it exists. Tourists are met at the airport and hurriedly taken to Sandton or Pretoria.

I am just thinking about implementation part of it.
There are two hurdles,
1. How someone would navigate, lets say i want to download pictures for melbourne, how to i search or reach there (this shall not be a big trouble, if site admins want to implement it).
2. Image sizes, if I upload images of printable sizes, they might eat up memory provided to my account. So where do i upload them, will the site pay for them. And if they pay for them, what do they get out of it (for maintaining it).

I liked the idea very much.

That would also be a good idea. Those living in known cities can try find a less touristy view. For example me not shooting the Union Buildings (Pretoria).
