As it's for fun, I don't think there are any hard and fast rules.

A true "Black & White" would be an image consisting of only 255,255,255 and 0,0,0 ;) So it's already compromising with shades of grey.

Toning is an important part of B&W photography. Of course, selective desats, and tonings that go into the range of becoming color-scale images I would count as only cheating *yourself*, as the challenge is primarily to get yourself to think in terms of converting your image into a truer aspect of B&W, but I hardly think that that we can set any kind of definitive no-no on anything.

Day 2

Oh jeeze, look how many pages I need to go though and comment on. I'm way behind already. I'll do my best to go through everybody's entries.

People are excited. I think that's ok.

Day two: (hey, it's almost 1 am here!)

And the 'cyanotype' version I decided not to make my official entry:

Eh, I like the duotone - sue me! ;)

Australians (and other East Asian/Indo-Pacific/Etc time-zones), started on *their* May 1st. Which occurs before North American/European/African's May 1st.

So it may be May 1st for us, but it's May 2nd for them. We'll just have to follow along as best we can. Me, being on the North American west coast.. heck, it's STILL May 1st, so expect to see me a full day and a half behind some of y'all. heh.

(EDIT: Yah, ok, I finally saw where this question was answered originally.. it escaped me the first time. Ignore this now. lol)

Ladies and gentleman...The fact that this sentance appears perfectly sensible and reasonable to me illustrates better than a thousand words why I love DPC

Since I don't have time in the mornings, and once I get to work, I often have to hit the ground running -- I will always post my next day's picture just before I go to bed the night before. I think what happened here is that the thread got started a day early for some reason, so a bunch of people are a day ahead. Maybe I should skip a day and post my picture for that day at night before I go to bed. Hmmmmm. I just like it there the whole day on the day tho.

In the time it took you to come up with this lame excuse, you could have commented on three pictures. ;op

Your Day 1 entry - 'crisis' - you should put that in May's free study. It is completely stunning.
