Day 1

I learned that if I oversaturate the image, in particular the greens, and then use the PSCS3 B/W filter and move green far to the left/yellow far to the right, it gives aspen leaves a beautiful glow. At least I think it's a beautiful glow :)

Looked good on my monitor when I did it.

Day 1

Well we're off and running! I have a feeling this is going to be some tough competition judging from what I've seen so far. Looking forward to the next 30 days!

For the sake of fairness...blast me for starting this thread for Roz...I sent a PM and hadn't yet gotten a reply when I did this (still haven't).

For Roz and Marac...I'll sent a note to SC to have the title changed to yours. (THE B&W 30 Day'er has begun) Sorry for any confusion or any toes being stepped on. (Reason for PM)

There really is no reason to re-name this. I just brought it up in the other thread because I had asked Roz to start the new one. Saw today that this one was already created, so I wondered if she knew about this and was possibly in process of creating a duplicate thread.

The thread is here, people are participating, so enjoy!

Day 1: close-up of pine tree from our backyard.
B&W seems to be pretty hard for me. Please be honest. I could use the help.

Sorry to jump in at this point but y'all are gonna have to put up with me and my comments on this for the next 30 days. Wet noodle slapping would be welcomed by the way!

When I saw my black cat in the pool of light, I thought this would be dandy for the B&W challenge, no? However, I'm not happy with the blown out bits in her face. I fussed with it, but then decided to post it as is - editing steps with the image - and see if anyone has bright ideas illuminating what I could have done differently. Thanks in advance.

Didn't know there was a 30 day B&W challenge going on. Hope I can do all of them. Here's the first blown out, crappy and uninteresting shot of thirty.

Question: Why did you use an orange filter? Does it improve the b/w?
