Ooooh pictures. I like picture instructions. Less reading!

Thanks to everyone who has given me some ideas of what you do with converting your pics to B&W. I think i am going to print them all and try each idea on a different pic to see what happens.

You know, anyone can join at any time. This kind of thread exists really to see if anyone is actually interested. And people are! So I am pretty excited about that.

And NO you do not have to post 30 pics at all. Post what you want or can do. I know that I cannot do that many, especially with processing being involved. Plus I like to devote time to leaving comments. Just do what you can, and when you can. That's all!

I think I'd like to give this a try too, if you wouldn't mind adding me to the list at the top of the thread, colorcarnival. Don't know if I could keep up with 1 a day, but it will be a good exercise no matter what the number... Thanks for suggesting it, it should be fun!

Thanks.

I may try the same as what was done in minimal editing. Rather than getting a new picture every day, I will take one every other day. The first shot will be as is, the second with my editing steps. That way I only need 15 shots, and it will be easier on most of the viewers. Does that seem viable? In that way, we can look at the original shot, see if it was seen with black and white eyes, and the differences in conversion. I understand about trying to see in black and white. It will let me work with training the eye for contrast, shadow and highlights and then I can get a really good feel for what I am doing that may or may not work for black and white.

i feel its always very valuable for our education to actually see the original photograph and then compare with the processed one ...
maybe we could ask ppl to put thumbs of their originals in the photographers comments of their daily entry ?????
edit ... i personally dont mind how we go about this .. whether we do it the way you want to with the 15 shots or one shot/day ...

This brings up a good point, maybe take 4 or 5 (or whatever) and post just one a day, or as many as possible total, I know I won't end up 30, but you get my point.

I'm in.

Yes, I have a similar question...

I suppose, given what people have said about the "rules" for this 30-day being fairly easy-going, that the images don't have to be taken *on the day* to be submitted *for the day*?

That is, I could take an image on the 18th and submit it on the 23rd, or take 3 images on the 18th and end up submitting each of them on separate days, etc.

I think I'm understanding that right...

i personally think that is totally ok .. ppl work and ppl have lives, and to take a photograph a day, process it and then put it in the thread is not always possible .. the main purpose of these challenges, as i understand them, IS TO LEARN ... the connection with other ppl doing the same thing is great too ......
edit later ... the making comments and constructive criticisms is also wot these side challenges are all about .. and as i said earlier, it would be great if ppl could put their original photograph in as a thumb in the photographer's comments, as a comparison if their image has been processed in any way ...

I likely won't be able to submit EVERYday but, you can count me in on this side challenge.

This is my first challenge like this, do the pics you post everyday have to be from that day or can numerous days' submissions be taken on a single day?
