Was just checking my scores on the money challenge,I was wondering if anyone else is getting rude comments from this new registered user? Seems like we have been having a few of "those" people wandering in here as of late. There is no sense in people leaving comments that are not helpful and down right rude. I hope none of you here from this person. He or she is down right rude

Hey, now I don't feel so bad, the $@@#!$# gave me 3 words.

I also noticed their portfolio is quite empty. I would think that with a camera like that, they would be wanting to show their stuff. If not here, then on another site. Hmmmm.

this is just like 3rd grade, if you ignore the person they will go away

It's just the typical moron with no camera .. he has a 1D, yeah right, whatever, who lacks the ability to actually post a photo himself, but gets off on snide comments.

They are usually kids as their is no adult looking over their shoulder, and as usual they lack the guts to actually show who they are. Easy to be big when you are anonymous. You get those people in chat rooms all the time.

Not worth worrying about morons like that, ignore them as the childish joke they are.

I for one care,I see no need for anyone to leave comments that are rude and contribute nothing to this site, and for another it really does not help people like myself that are anxiously wanting to learn to be "good" at digital photography. So once again I care

Everyone who doesn't like these types of comments should try a couple things....

First of all, take into consideration that everyone is not going to be tactful in their comments. Some will be quite straight forward.

Analyze what was said. Chances are that these comments could be considered useful if you can get past the wording that was used. These comments are obviously negative or they would not be discussed here. The viewer may not have liked your photos. Try to reword the comment in a tactful way and see if it makes sense. If it does, consider what was said. If it doesn't simply discard it and move on.

Jmsetzler is right!

Don't take things personally. It takes all kinds to make a community.

Guess I should feel honored that my rude comment was a whole 13 words and two sentences. :)

Exactly my point... why does it matter what camera they have when making comments? I guess I should have been clearer about that point in my original post :-)

I received a rude reply to a comment I left the other day. Sometimes you just have to consider the source, peecee.

If there are constant complaints about the same login names, then it should be easy for the site council to cancel their login privileges. However, there is nothing to prevent them from choosing another name and returning.

Don't be so sure ....

However, that kind of thing (suspension) is handled by the Admins (site owners), not the Site Council. Technically, the SC is advisory only.

As a strategy for handling things like this, this kind of forum is probably counter-effective. If the comments are accurate but overly blunt they should be handled by PM.

If the comments are inappropriate and seemingly for shock value only, then getting someone to start a thread like this is the actual goal of the commenter, and the number of posts a measure of "success." If people could refrain from starting threads like this, and instead complain/commiserate with other members/Site Council via PM, I think the number of incidents would decrease.
