OK, I am just going to take my lumps and let the chips fall where they may. Sorry folks for all the complaining. I liked the shot a lot, I consider myself a landscape photog, and I had a contending score when I woke up this AM. Two of those are still true.

Just as a bit of humor I was joking with someone that given the voters it appears I have a technically perfect photo of someone killing a puppy.

Isn't that what expert editing is for? ;) Sorry, I can only call them like I see them.

That's fine and yes, that's what it is for but I like my photos to actually present what is there.

I agree with what you say. Unfortunately the camera rarely, if ever, captures what was "really" there. That is what post processing normally is used to recover whether it be 'basic', 'advanced' or 'expert'.

What's this? My score has now dropped to 6.69. I turned the score off at that point. I'm going to take solace in some Vodka tonight. 0.8 drop after 50 votes. I think that's the biggest I've experienced in 120 challenges.

::Gulps sheepishly and guiltily gazes up at the doctor::

I'm so very sorry. I'm certain I gave the puppy photo ... a one! (hehe)

No matter how high or low the score, no one will argue the pain of the plummet. The Chinese have a saying that translates something like, "When a knife is held to the heart, the only solution is patience."

Unfortunately, I admit that patience is not one of my virtues worsened only by the sin of my happy complaining!

I'm very surprised that my photo scored above a 6 actually, but nothing surprised me more than the comments. :-)

Mr. Davidson? Is that really you? How kind of you to grace us with your presence...no doubt to dazzle us with yet another brilliant landscape?!

::winks mischievously::

I confess the plummet of my "no longer personal best" score:

Indeed, that is what my editing has done, I didn't say I didn't want to edit it, I said that I wanted the photo to present what was there. Following the good Doctor's advice would not have shown what it was really like.

Meh. Didn't do anything fancy with the editing and didn't get to shoot at the time of day that would have been ideal, so about what I expected. I was hoping for a couple of tenths higher, but what you gonna do?

One very nice comment, however. Thanks for that.

Mine keeps falling. 4.68... Oh well. I'm happy(ish) with my shot, as are 5 of the 6 commenters.

Woo hoo!! Go Brian!! Kick butt score, and two favs? I'd say you're doing OK!
Thanks to hihosilver, I now know we've passed the 100 vote mark, so I'll bravely (she says) go turn on scores for a peek....

There you have it. One comment feels it's overprocessed for their taste(perfectly valid comment, not complaining). Interesting thing is other than cropping and a few minor advanced tweaks, I didn't do much to it.

I browsed the entries yesterday. some are really beautiful give me "WOW". As usual, I won't cast votes on challenges that I participate so no votes from me only add my fav pics.

When I entered this I was more than sure it'll end above 6. At least someone could tell me why that shot sucks so much.

Ah well, I think I got too excited with the first challenge submission and didn't finish it well enough. Would LOVE some more comments to help me more though :)

Hi all, I wish I could say the “landscape challenge” was all I hoped it would be. I guess I’ve just had a bad week all around, the weather had been cold, snowing, raining, biting winds and more snow! My grandson “Logan” who will be 1 yr. April, 21st.
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=492001 was hospitalized a few days ago; he was a very sick little boy (Rotavirus and Severe dehydration)
. I broke our tripod. I haven’t been struck by lightning yet, but not going out into any storms either. Coming home from hospital in first nice day in a week I jump out of the car snap some shots for “LandscapeIII”. It keeps my mind away from scary thoughts.. I’ve got to say, THIS really did the trick! My scores started coming in, 1’s 2’s 3’s and 4’s. Of 109 voters only 3 decided to explain their reasoning. Things where so tough the first day I ask to have my pix removed. It is a landscape, in focus beyond that apparently it’s a load of “hokey”.
My Point, What a difference a day makes. "Logan" is home from hospital, the weather is great. We needed a newer and better tripod anyway. And the photo is staying, not because of some miracle happened to inflated my score (I still suck),but I know this too shall pass.

I really have a love/hate thing going here. Lots of 8, 9, 10 votes along with several 1, 2, 3 votes.

Funny, on some Expert Edting challenges I get dinged for not having enough procesing, and this one I get low votes for over processing.

Big delta on the views to votes too.

I don't have an entry in this challenge, but I've been voting this morning, and I have to say that there are sooooooo many great images here.

This challenge will be interesting.
