I've got a friend here at university who needs a ride home and back on Saturday, and I was thinking that while she was doing her family thing, I could meet up with anyone who's going to be around and get a little shooting in. It's supposed to be an amazing sunny day!

I'd probably be there from about 3 pm to 8 pm, and I'm game for anything - let me know if you're around and interested!

I posted on FLP. I'm planning to join you.

Vikas, glad you chimed in. I'll email Gary and David in case they miss this.

Awesome! vikas & ButterflySis, it'll be great to get to shoot with you again! Any preferences on where we go? I was thinking Robert Treman Park might be fun, but I don't know if the trails are open down into the gorge yet.

Hopefully some of the otheres are able to join us too. I'll plan on leaving Binghamton at 1:30, that'll put me at my friend's house at about 2:30ish, and I should be able to get to any meeting point by 3.

Brent, not sure if it will be open yet or not. I can try and find out. I know WG typically doesn't open until mid-May/Memorial Day. All we can do is try. I would have a backup just in case. You can choose since you're the out-of-towner. :-)

Is Zeke still around?

P.S. Thank you for letting me sleep in. :-D :-D LOL

Just found this article: //www.theithacajournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070406/NEWS01/704060341

The last sentence says, "Guilford said he hopes to have all the trails at the four parks open by Memorial Day."

If you haven't PMed Zeke yet, I can. I feel bad now, I almost forgot about him; he wasn't able to make the last couple because of other obligations.

As the out-of-towner, I only know the Parks, so if there are other secret shooting spots that you're willing to share, that'd be fine :-) Otherwise, we could use Taughannock as a backup/alternate - the hike in from the bottom is nice and offers some landscapes as well as the falls. Sampson Park, is nice too, although it only really offers the lake, so I'm not so sure about it.

And as far as sleeping in goes, I'm with you :-D You can't beat the dawn light, but it's starting to come too early now! And we'll get the sunset, which is almost as good.

Hmmm, so all the parks may be out of commission. Where does that leave us? I'll do some searching tomorrow and see what else I can find on the Net.

I just PM'd cresus/Zeke. I can toss in a few suggestions...

Lick Brook - It's sort of near lower Treman. It's not a park, just some falls.

Sapsucker Woods

Ludlowville Falls - Never been there myself but have an idea where it's at. Probably a 10 minute trip north of Ithaca. Someone here may know right where it's at?

Fall Creek is always open.

Cascadilla - Not sure if it's open or not.

Umm...

You suggested Fall Creek for the last GTG and we didn't make it there, but that would be a good one. And I had forgotten about Sapsucker, but would like to return - I was there on my first ever GTG, and I'm sure I'd see it in a whole new way now.

Here's an idea: let's do this one to avoid the "usual" places and check out some of the smaller, less visited ones. Lick Brook, Fall Creek, Ludlowville Falls (that's a mouthful to say!), and Sapsucker. Not sure we can make them all, but let's meet at Fall Creek, and we can decide where to go from there.

Fall 'Creek' ;-)

Sounds like a great plan! See you on Saturday then!

G'nite. :-)

The big question now...do you have a location of Fall Creek? I can't seem to find an exact point on a map, and I need something to plug into my GPS so I can get there :-)

Edit: I just found this map Fall Creek. The parking area off Fall Creek Drive, near the top of the map - I'm assuming that's the place to meet?

Thanks for thinking of me guys. I'm not in Ithaca anymore regretfully. I'm in the Albany area now. I make it out there every now and then but won't be coming down this weekend. Have fun...

I'm there! I might not be able to stay until 8pm, but I've got a couple hours at least.

That's a good place to meet. There is good shooting around Beebe Lake as well.

All right eqsite, we'll see you there!

Sorry you can't make it cresus, but hopefully there'll be one closer to Albany soon!

Yay, Gary! Sounds great!

Zeke, sorry you can't join us. I thought you may have moved but I couldn't remember. Let us know if you're ever in town again.

David called me a little bit ago. He will probably have to work most of the day so he's unsure if he can make it. If he gets out in time he'll meet up with us. He and I may actually stay out until dark to try some star trails.

I said Fall Creek and meant Ithaca Falls...but meeting up there is fine with me too. Parking is free on weekends.

Okay, so 3pm at the parking lot by Triphammer Falls and the Hydraulics Plant by Beebe Lake...correct?

Ummm...wow. I don't know. Is that what the map shows? (non-local who is generally clueless asking!)

I'm planning on meeting everyone at 3pm, where the little "P" is on the map I posted. I hope that's the same place! :-)

I think Brent was talking about the lot by the Plantations by Fall Creek.

Edit to add a link: here

Sorry, I missed your link, Brent.

Gary, if it's the "P" on Brent's map that is below the Plantations and below Beebe lake.

I have a confusion about where we are exactly meeting at 3, but I will give one of you a call before I start searching for you guys around Ithaca. I believe I have Gary's number.

See you all there!

I believe Brent was referring to this parking lot

sorry can't get the link working right and I have to head out!

But I believe he is referring to the small parking lot that is close to the walk bridge on Fall Creek Drive!
Its the bridge opposite the Johnson Art Museum.
