I'm in NYC, so I know B&H is the best, but I'm helping a DC friend with purchasing a DSLR, lenses, and peripherals - what's the best DC (or VA/ MD area) photographer's resource? My suggestion to her is to actually hold the cameras...so we need to find a place similar to B&H...

I would try

They are across the street from the FBI building and have a wide selection of cameras to look at. Not sure about prices, but you friend could at least look and touch the cameras a bit.
