I've just spent the last hour crawling around the yard (dont know what all the cars driving past thought, probably that I'm crazy) and it's amazing how many insects there are. My problem is that it's really windy today and just when I have something lined up the wind blows it out of the viewfinder. I also dont have a specific macro lens so I am limited to screwing a macro filter on the front of my current lens. There's a bunch of wasps but was too scared to get up too close. Wasp stings do strange things to me. I tried but realised after a few minutes that my heart was beating really fast.

I always admire a gutsy woman! However, if I have learned one thing at DPC, I learned it from Ivory.

If you are going to beat the Big Boys (and GIRLS), the best way to do it...is to surprise them.

A privilege I do not have personally, but have been honored to witness nonetheless.

Good Luck!

That's a zoom lens + a reversed old 50mm standard prime + duct tape. No bugs, but maybe some will show before the challenge is out.

Hmmmm.... I have duct tape....

I can't enter, of course..
But guys, you know how ladybugs swarm around in some peoples' houses.
Also, there are lots of basement spiders in some peoples' houses.
I guess it is a bit odd to have an insect challenge in the winter.
Atleast its a challenging challenge..

Looking on the bright side, how many bugs are out and about in Iceland this time of year :)

Pay attention in school Joe. Spiders are not insects.

no crop = sucks

Most of us don't have the equipment to get up close and personal without cropping. Will truly be a challenge. Maybe I should email Doc about advice with super glue and bugs....

Don't get them stuck on your fingers. That's my advice.

My entry is 100% superglue free. The little guy went on his merry way after I was through with him.

Americans are not the only people on this site!Though probably the majority. Its Autumn here in NZ plenty of subjects for me to shoot :)

Well, praise be. There was a bug on my deck today. Big guy too. Anyway, I got a shot for the challenge, but it ain't close enough to be eye to eye. Still, it got my shoes on to shoot, though it probably won't be the last. Still a few days left to get some others.

I've got a pretty nice shot of a bug that is challenge worthy. Just need to scrape up the necessary funds before Sunday.

Hey, are we talking Literal insects, or would somthing kinda Comical that includes a stuffed insect toy be just as good, Cause i just got another foot of snow here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada... and insects this time of year are fairly sparse, and i would like to enter anyways since i have not entered into anything before... but the best thing i can get is a toy...
Comments please.
