get out your macro lenses! the minimal editing ruleset will make this interesting...

my predictions:
45% of shots will be macro
10% will be black and white

20% will be pure head-shots
30% will involve a leaf of some sort

15% ladybugs
20% grasshoppers
10% ants
15% flies
15% more than one insect
25% spiders (which will average 2.5 DNMC comments)

i'm gonna try for all of the above :-)

Predictions...

...at least a few will lose their lives...

...at least a few people will not approve...

Muahahaha!

Actually, I do wanna try and see what I can do in "live" action. It's a real bummer the Oregon Zoo Butterfly Exhibit is not running yet. Now I gotta hunt something down in the wild...

...maybe on the seat of that bicycle that is outside, leaning in the dark against the snow covered garage doors. Oh wait, that's where I would find one.

On the good side, if you do find one, you won't have to worry about it moving around too much.

Well, due to the lack of crop, I don't think we're going to see too much of this...

You can use any function of the camera to take the picture....can you edit jpeg in camera and can you edit in camera in a Minimal Editing Challenge? Interesting....no clue. Good luck, Amy!

I think these special rule sets should probably be left to extra challenges and not replace one of the regular challenges. However, if you're going to do that wouldn't it be better to have minimal editing replace one of the open challenges and expert editing replace the member challenge and not the other way around? Since expert editing allows you to do more that would fit the membership aspect much more than say minimal editing which anybody can restrict themselves to at any time. Anyway just a thought.

On the last minimal editing challenge I wrote to the SC and they said that you can use any feature of your camera TO TAKE the picture but not after you have taken it.

In fact here is the response I got from clubjuggle;

The minimal editing rules only permits you to use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry. Once the scene has been photographed, any additional adjustments are considered post-processing, and fall under the post-processing rules. This means that in the minimal editing rules, you may not adjust your saturation after the fact.

I beg your pardon, when you said that in camera editing rocks, I assumed that editing meant post shot. My apologies.

I assumed the same thing. Setting the parameters hardly counts as editing :P

'cos as a home school family we get to grips with insects on a regular basis

An insect:

- has SIX legs
- its body is divided into 3 parts: head, thorax, abdomen

Good luck everyone.
