i am really embarassed to ask but how do you take a color pic then desaturate it then use the healing brush or any utility to bring back color to certain portions of the pic |

If you're asking about selective desaturation, try this:

You can also desaturate and then use the history brush to bring back the color to wherever you wish. |

The easiest way is to use a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to desaturate. Just paint black onto the layer mask to reveal the colour. |

I usually make a gradiant map adjustment layer to turn in to black and white, then use the eraser tool and erase away the black and white on the places I want the color to show through. I'm not sure if that is the right way or not but its works great for me. |
