All ya had to do is use your magical powers and fly up into space and take a few pics of planets... is that too much to ask?

Had you been Judi_music and been good at bird painting, well, you'd probably have kept your ribbon.
Ouch.

I used a filter....an editing tool...but it was obviously enough to be considered as clip art....!!!

Too bad, as I was impressed with an image shot 1/49000 @ f260 and ISO 9580. I knew Canon's high ISO performance was good, but...

Judi, if you have specific questions about the reasoning behind the disqualification of this image, please feel free to Contact Us.

Bummer about the DQ, but the reasoning sounds like it makes sense.

I made a different discovery with this challenge...

I felt because the submitters worked fast and got their images in early they deserved something special...

So I gave all the entries a 10.

I noticed after the vote tallies were added that my votes were not counted. Apparently that must be viewed as reverse 'trolling'. :(

Yep, it was said in another thread about the Vanish challenge that if we gave them all 10's our voted would get thrown out. I know a couple of us gave all 10's, but I saw that post by SC so I went back and revised my votes.

bummer...just don't let idnic find out.

I'm a little confused here... seems that this image was dq'd because the planets were added during editing. At least that's the
impression I'm getting here. Is that right?

That is correct. The planets were pre-created artwork taken from a different source and added during post processing.

I see. Thanks Konador.
This does seem to pose a bit of a dilema though dosn't it?
A photographer shoots a variety of textures and patterns to incorporate into future compositions during editing... it's a common practice. Would that be considered DQable under 'expert editing' rules or does incorporating the textures into your editing program sidestep things a bit?

Not fair, I demand we all go out on strike.....

Thats sad Judi, but it is still a great image.....

Hi Qart! From the Expert Editing (Trial) Ruleset... "You may...use images that do not meet the source or date requirements as textures in your entry if they function specifically as textures and not to circumvent other rules."

Really!!!

You may not:
add graphics or clip art images to your entry or its border during editing.

You may:
apply a full range of editing tools to all or part of your entry.

The Flaming Pear plug in is a FILTER!! It was added DURING the editing not BEFORE!!

As for your STATEMENT L2.....what questions...according to the notice from SC....I was told my image MUST be disqualified...so it seems there is no comeback. Your decision was made, so my opinion won't change that...that doesn't change the fact that I feel the rules are very contradictory. And this is my way of bringing it to the attention of other memebers.

If they then feel the need to discuss and MAYBE...yep....MAYBE learn...then what is the problem.

If I felt there was any chance of changing the decision by SC..then I would submit a ticket...but the decision seemed to be final.

Not much I can do about that...now is there?

Editing tool (allowed) vs Graphics (not allowed)

To me it's clear which the planets are.
