I think discussion of specific images should be saved until after the Contre-jour challenge has completed voting.

I thought these were considered outtakes and weren't allowed to be posted until after the challenge?

If there is a "color portrait" challenge going on then I'm not allowed to submit portrait images to the forums??? Do I understand you right? ;-)

hmmm so I'm not allowed to post images that fit (or not?) the theme of challenges that is in the voting period? I was just really wondering about this theme, I had never seen the French translation of "against the light" before and I'm wondering if I understand it right... I didn't take part in this challenge but I want to vote in it and to vote I need to understand the theme perfectly. Is it against the main light source that lits the motive or just against any light in the image? Answers here would help but I also would appreciate some comments..

Many thanks KaDi.. :-D

If someone could answer the questions with simple yes and no answers :-P I don't have to read through all of the 120 posts hehe.. I read images not text muuhahaha Lazy me...

My questions are:
1) Is it against the main light source that lits the motive?
2) Or is it against just any light in the image, doesn't have to be the main light source?
3) Do all my images here fit this theme?

God forbid the vote swaying begins. Somebodys score might decrease from 5.522 to 5.520. Call the forum police. Lock it down.

3. I see 3 that I don't think fit perfectly...but what do I know? I learning too.

Lazy me. ;-P

If that's how you feel then why don't you simply answer the OP's questions?

:-S Ooops, you got me... hehe..
ok, then I think I understand it... but I only see two images that don't fit, #4 and #8... are they the same that you see and which one is the third and why?

I was being lazy and going by the thumbs. Yes #4 and #8. And I thought the last one...but after opening it I can see it would fit. Maybe not as strongly (as in beat-the-viewer-over-the-head-with-it) as the others...but it wouldn't be dnmc the way I'm voting the challenge.

I know what some are saying about posting photos during a challenge that could relate to the challenge in some way. However I really find it hard to believe that anything could sway some of voters from giving us all 5's no matter what. The guys who vote fair are not going to let outtakes change their mind. And the others like I said are going to give you a crappy score no matter what. So I personally see no harm in posting photos during a challenge. But maybe some sort of clue in the title of the thread to alert those who would rather not see the outtakes so they do not go into said thread. Just my disgruntled 2 cents for the day.

Maybe you're right about the clue in the title.. but If people really open up the images they can see that they are not outtakes because they are "old", the oldest from 2004 and the newest taken last february. I also mentioned in my second post that I didn't take part in this challenge so there's another reason for not calling these images "outtakes" ;-)..

maybe I should open up another thread for some comments on the photos as this thread has led to different discussion than I had in mind.. And then with some clue in the title... hehe

The point is, similar threads have been locked and photos removed because they were considered outtakes, that's the rules. I believe the rules have to applied evenly or it's not fair and the rules have no meaning. Why this hasn't been locked yet or the images pulled is baffling.

like the OP said, These photos were all taken pre-challenge, If I posted a bunch of my sunset photos that I took last summer on here right now and titled the thread Sunsets would you want that thread taken down also because my sunset pictures look like alot of the photos in this challenge?

hmmm... If that would be the case then all posting of images in the forums would be forbidden because they could be considered outtakes from the free study challenges...
I can understand this if people are submitting to the forums similar images to those that they have submitted in a challenge that is still in the voting period (excuse my English).
There are always some challenges going on that images in the forums could fit to, portraits, nightshots, circles, furnitures etc....

I didn't take part in this challenge, didn't have the time (to bad that I didn't), and all the images that I posted in the beginning were taken long before the challenge started, up to 3 years ago..
If there would be something then I would have the title of this thread a little bit different after the comments that have been put here ;-)

Good luck in the challenge btw!

I think I've gotten answers to my questions, thanks a lot! :-D
And the verdict is that images #4 and #8 would not fit the contre-jour theme.

btw... comments would be appreciated..
