As a reminder, please do not post large images (large is anything over about 30K) to the forums -- use a link instead.

This helps keep the forums useful to dialup users and users who have to pay for Internet access per MB downloaded.

Thanks,
-Terry

This is a green flash, it happen on a clear day just after the sun set below the horizon. They are a bit tricky to photograph because that only last a fraction of a second. When the horizon is clear here people will almost always look to see if there is a green flash.

What is surprising is that there are a lot of people who don’t believe that there really is such a thing as a green flash, they believe that it is on optical illusion, even though there are hundreds of photos of them on the internet.

Here are a few of my most recent...but both sunrise and sunset in there:

I dont do any coloring or post production fixes...just resizing, cropping sometimes, unsharpmasking, brightness adjustment and sometimes the camera effect for VIVID which is like shooting with Velvia film...but the colors are pulled from the sky with just changes in shutter speed and aperature...hope you like some of them!

I've seen the green flash, with my own eyes. Of course, techincally it IS an optical illusion... nevereheless, it's real....
