An hour shooting and an hour editing. For absolutely nothing. A waste of a day when I could have been getting something done around the house.

I can see your point but lets be real here. How constructive was shooting those silly things in the Vanish challenge even if it was real?

Nope. From now on it is much better to shoot only indoors.

Sorry ursula, but the joke has back fired! Would have been better to just cancel the speed challenge as an April Fool and leave it at that. There are a lot of bad feelings at the moment.

Why even cancel it? I'm sure I'm not the only one who invested time in it. Haven't entered a challenge in a long time and, after this, I'm pretty well convinced that I won't bother to get off my arse and try again.

There are also a lot of people who are enjoying the fun. It's not that bad, it's good to remember that a big component of DPC is "fun", to have fun. And if you disagree with me I'll get very angry.

Didn't the same thing hold for the 'Rubber Duck' challenge on a previous April 1st?

That was a real challenge, wasn't it?

I enjoy a joke, but there is a limit. Some people went out and took a shot for the Vanish speed challenge, only to be told that it doesn't matter any more cos there is a new, longer speed challenge now. That isn't funny!

But with all those spare body parts lying around, you have to enter this one!

I've got to agree with you on this. So the low votes were funny (for the first hour, it's getting really old now) but to actually have people go out and buy props, set up the shot and then edit it all for nothing is going a bit too far in my opinion.

I think next April 1st I'll stay away from this site.

Yeah, I had one in. When I looked earlier this morning, at least 9 people had invested time and effort into a shot. I don't think cancelling a challenge already in submission phase is cool :-(

What have spare body parts got to do with anything?

I think DPC should put up the entries they did recieve and allow us to vote on them, if individuals invested the time then they deserve the credit.

I am fully up for this April fools stuff, but to ask someone to go out and shoot a challenge knowing full well it was going to be pulled ventures out of the `fun` catagory and into the `mean spirited` realm. not a nice way to treat the paid up members.

oh darn, I had one......Like I'm submitting to the new challenge, I just used all my creativity on the vanish one....boo hoo

Is she really that upset? I find it really strange that people would get upset over something like this. If you know anything about databases you'd know that you can display the data any way you like even to the point where it's inaccurate without compromising the data. All they probably did was display the same data using a different (bogus) formula which is displaying the scores differently. In reality the votes are getting registered the same way they always do. Don't read anything more into it then what it actually is which is an april fool's joke. The admins always had the ability to "manipulate" data. That should have been realized since day one.

Nobody said it doesn't matter anymore. Just wait around a bit :)

I agree. It was fun for the first little while, but now it's all just "oh, another silly thing that is far too obvious to even be all that funny anymore". As for the challenge thing... That's just messed up, even if you believe that everyone should have considered it a joke to begin with.

She made a post on the circle of trust, Signed off. I talked to her on yahoo.

"[01:21] ak_shutterpug: well I just posted: personally, I find this joke to be in very poor taste. It just proves that the scores can be manipulated. So how am I to ever trust this site again?"

Richard is completely correct. You can do all sorts of stuff with numbers and formulas without compromising data. It just doesn't make sense for anyone to claim that this destroys or compromises trust.

I think people are forgetting that April Fools day isn't about being funny it's about fooling! If it were supposed to be funny then it would be called April Funnys day. I feel bad for those who took the time and I even considered doing it myself until it dawned on me that it too was probably some hoax. I think this is great(unless my score doesn't go back up tomorrow..lol)and shows how gullable we really are and how pissed when our routines are thrown off. Enjoy the rest of your day...lol

Well hopefully she'll come to her senses. I had an employer once tell me my whole department was going away. Now that's a cruel joke.

I don't see how they can change a challenge because people were having a hard time, well wouldn't that make it MORE OF A CHALLENGE???? Hundreds of complaints???? Yes, I think the ones who did shoot and put forth time and effort should be given a chance, like myself, and the other 12 or so....So we learned if we don't like something we can complain like children and get it the way we want it. MIGHT AS WELL GO TO BURGER KING: "HAVE IT YOUR WAY!!"

and on that note.. once it becomes obvious to most people what day it is, and the fooling has been done.. there's not much call to continue to keep doing it. IMO. That just leads to what is happening now, a lot of people getting tired and a little fed up with it. It's a valid feeling too.

But hey.. we're just the peons. The people in charge will have their fun until midnight regardless.

didn't anyone think "vanish" was a suspicious name for a challenge, especially since nothing in the description related to the title?
