Its horrible waiting to see if it will go up or down when you press that damn update button. Personally I think it will break the 6 mark, the fact you are so close means a lot more voters have given you a 6 or above than a 5 or below, so I wouldnt worry about it too much. |

| i have one comment which says does not meet challenge, can someone, somewhere for the love of me please explain how a photo that was taken in march and is ok doesnt meet the challenge of a free study??? im struggling with this one |

Its a left over april fools joke, that the person who did it is going through leaving constructive comments in its place right now. please give him time and it will go away.

The "DNMC 1" commenter was an April Fool's prank by Raish. He confessed, and he's said in many places in many threads (possibly including this one) that he's working his way back through to give everyone a real comment and vote. By all accounts, he's holding to his word.
It just takes time to go through 500+ entries.

I am in fact just looking for a wide range of tones in the B&W, you start seeing a lot of B&W that are comprised completely of gray tones and they look somewhat flat (especially after seeing 500 other pictures).
I said nothing about "hate" :)
and the three things (B&W, birds, flowers) are all seperate. There are just a LOT of flower or bird pictures- so you've got stiff competition- plus you need to fight the repetition. |

Okay - got you...I understand what you're saying. It's about the levels and use of contrasts. You're looking for (and rightly so) an intelligent use of monotone..not just a quick conversion that ends up being flat. Thanks for clarifying.
Yes there are repetitions of theme. I unfortunately find myself one of a few using a similar subject (not flowers or birds though) and unfortunately have probably lost some impact in the process...had no idea there would be so many others using "my" inspiration :-)
Oddly enough some of my favourites in this challenge have been flowers...people must really have been inspired to produce some gorgeous flower pics.
