Hey, Just change a few letters around & I'll join...Team Candid. My Best On-Location Portraits are always candids.
I love the challenge of that one person in the family who "never smiles for the camera" or gives that "smile that doesn't look like him" when he smiles intentionally for a portrait.
That's the person I keep in the "back of my mind" during a family photo shoot. I watch him out of the corner of my eye when I "make a little joke 'off-the-cuff'." If he "throws back a laugh in any way, I'll "capture the moment!"
Nine times out of ten, I will have the best portrait smile that THAT "infamous" person has made in years. That's because I don't just stop with one. I usually "fire-off" a round of half a dozen or ten.
If I don't get three usable shots, then I'll get one GREAT one & a couple of "outtakes" (which are equally fun!)
I look forward to the first time Team Candid garners a ribbon so we may add the words, "Smile! You're on Candid Camera!" :}
