Hi, I remember reading on the forum about a mentor program that seemed very interesting. The problem is that I looked through the entire site and didn't find a single link to any information of any kind. I'm a beginner on the site and in photography digital or not, and if there was a program like this where an experimented and skilled photographer would help a newbie, i'd really like to be part of it. Does someone have other information?? Thanks

If there is such a thing here, it would be interesting to get more information.

I think the one that we had sort of got phased out due to lack of participation and leadership. The last thread on it is here.

The program is not phased out. My mentor and I still communicate every week. jmsetlzer started the one I am a part of.... //www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=41070

Then let me rephrase: As far as I know, no one is coordinating new mentorships any longer. If I am wrong, please let me know. That being said, it doesn't mean that there is no one here who would be willing to mentor. I just don't think there's an official group.

Well, you're not wrong. I contacted about getting mentor but nothing came of it, but then another DPC'r approached me because they liked the comments I left and offered to mentor together. It's been working out great!

You can see a marked improvment in my shots since I got a mentor

Just an idea but, Why don't we have 3 types of challenge instead of 2? Something like an open challenge and a member chalenge like we have now, and we had another member chalenge called learning challenge, where the picture instead of having a theme must have some characteristic. i.e a challenge on composition where a picture must have 3 distinct elements. the main elements must be not in the background or the foreground and your foreground elements must add contrast to the picture. or another challenge on lighting where you have to get different source of light to lit different element of your picture. This would give an unlimited possibility of pictures in a single challenge AND give the beginners (like me!!) the chance to learn!!

I was thinking, Kiwi is such a good photographer with all his "blue ribbons", Kiwi why don't you volunteer to mentor some of us lowly beginners? :)

:-) I am already mentoring two DPC'ers

Swashbuckler is organising all the mentor/mentee stuff. I'd send him an email and ask him about it, apparently it is running quite well.

Swash is trying to give up this post ... see this thread.

I'm available to help someone out if there's anything they think I can help with.

well, i haven't been a member of the site very long and am just starting to bud my interest in photography - but if anybody else is free for mentoring, i'd be very interested (although i don't have a whole lot of experience to have extremely detailed critiques/comments the other way around)

With so many raised hands, I'm not sure there's room for me at the back of the line. I could certainly use a mentor - my scores seem to be going backwards.

i like the idea of the whole tutor/apprentice relationship. i would love to apprentice under someone.

Me to. I have had some excellent advise from the forums but I feel it would be great to have someone special to coach me along and upwards!
