Not until Moodville pointed it out in her comment did I notice that there was a cat present in my submission for the literalism entry. I assure everyone that I did not know prior to entering and apologize profusely for what I have done. I am so ashamed.

;)

I don't get it. So what? I personally thought this was the best entry of the lot. My only crit is that it looked like it could use a bit more lighting on the "couch".

Just humor. Apparently, alot of people are tired of too many cat shots. Anyway, thanks for you compliments, and as far as the lighting, I was kicking myself all week for that. The problem with working with a fresh carved potato is that after an hour or two, it starts to turn brown. That photo was from the second round of pictures and by the time I downloaded them, went through them, etc it was too late to re-use the 'couch'. You can see some of the browning on the surfaces already. I tried carving another one, but it just didn't look as good as the first. The other ideas I wish I had though of before was adding a toy TV in the front and placing a Ken doll in boxers lying on the couch.

A light layer of vasoline over the carved parts keeps the potato from turning brown just for future reference. This also works with other things such as apples and pumpkins. :-)

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind if the occasion presents itself again.

Anything with citric acid (e.g. lemon juice) should preserve the potato as well.

Citric acid or vaseline? Which do you think is more fun?
