If you could design a site like Model Mayhem or One Model Place (OMP) what features would you want to see?

Is there anything missing from these sites that you'd implement?

Other types of "artists" that you would represent?

Throw out some ideas :-)

Yeah...models for country areas. I need a male model for next week...client is very specific.

I'd like to see a newbie section so that new models and photographers can work together.

The one thing I've noticed on Model Mayhem is that if you don't have a bunch of examples, you're not likely to get anyone to work with you. Well unless you're a hot looking girl.

Someplace where someone new to portrait photography can get people willing to work with them. A person needs to start out somewhere, right.

And a TFP/CD section. Where people know going in that there is no money involved.

Even if you have some Dynamic work.. its hard to get people to work with you. Funny, my models get way more comments on the images I do than I do on my own. But yeah...

Some sort of screening capability so I don't get random creepy emails from random creepy people. I have been quite put off of all model sites because of this.

Yeah, I'd be a lot happier if Model Mayhem wasn't so "MySpacey". I checked out the forums there when I first signed up and I was not impressed. And you always get that guy asking for a friend request and it turns out he's like in some far off country and has like a bajillion "friends".... Stupid.

I don't even know if it's possible, but some sort of Feedback/rating/screening type thing. Like if someone set's up a shoot with a model/photographer and it turns out they were creepy or unprofessional or just looking for a "date". Then you could leave feedback or rate them so to warn others or rave about them. Ya know?

Ooooh, I like that idea.

I'm perfectly happy to go out with any of the models that want to go on dates ;)

Well, sorta... it will make you want to drink more :-)

Darn it, you've got me hi-jacking my own thread.

you might want to have all users optimize their images so it doesn't slow down the site and people viewing it.

That's already available on OMP ("Willing to work for:"), though not on MM.

My main complaint about OMP is that it's _such_ a commercial site. You have to pay simply to have an account with the barest set of features.

MM and OMP BOTH have incredibly bad, unintuitive navigation. How about Saved Searches? The ability to "turn off" a model in your search if you know it's someone that you don't want to work with. A Don't View Again button I guess. Icons on the thumbnail view that show you what types of compensation they will accept. You could use a dollar sign, a CD and a picture frame. That way you won't have to open up 10 profiles to find one willing to work TFCD. If they want paid gigs, require them to list a base rate. Have that rate appear over the $ when you mouse over it. You could make it optional too.

Oooh, now we got some ideas flowing. I'm looking for a new pet project. And like most of you, I'm not completely happy with the "model" sites. Hell, I find Myspace more useful and it's not designed for such.

Oh, btw... I'm thinking about adding Creative Directors and Art Buyers to the list of member types.

Model
Photographer
Hair
Make Up
Wardrobe
Set Design
Creative Director
Art Buyer

Any other ideas?

MM has to be one of the slowest sites I've ever been to! And OMP really isn't much better.
