Just curious....do you tend to like to go shooting with other photographers or do you prefer to "do your own thing" and have the freedom of shooting alone?

Me...I tend to like to be on my own. I enjoy being with others as well, but my photos are definitely better when I'm by myself and not rushed, watched, or distracted.

By the way...that doesn't mean you can't invite me somewhere :) Just curious to know what other's thoughts are.

I dont mind shooting with others but prefer to be alone. Mainly because I get in such deep thought I would hate for anyone to think that I was ignoring them. (photographer or non photographer)

I generally spend too much time talking if I'm in a group, and don't really care to take photos... however, I do enjoy going out with one or two people that I know really really well.

I prefer going alone. I've never been to one of the get-togethers with other photographers.

If I got somewhere alone, I can spend all the time at one spot that I want. I don't have to worry about someone else hurrying me along.

I find I shoot a lot less when I go to GTG's. Guess 'cause I spend too much time talking (mostly listening really, not much of a talker) and watching what others are doing.

I like going out and shooting on my own. Mostly, I just find it relaxing. But I also like going out with a freind or two at times. So I guess it just really depends on what mood I'm in and what I want to accomplish.

Suppose that didn't really answer your question at all. Just call me Ms. Wishy Washy. :)

I usually fly solo, but I'm not opposed to getting together with a group.

So far I've only shot photos by myself, except when another photog nearby comes by to chat and shoot for awhile with me.

I've had planned on attending Florida GTGs twice last year but one ended up having very low attendance and the next one died out altogether several weeks before it was supposed to take place.

I now have plans to shoot socially at the St. Augustine GTG in April and again at the Red Rock GTG two weeks later. Both of these seem to be solid and look like something that I'm really going to enjoy.

Links to these get-togethers...

2nd Annual Red Rock GTG Apr. 25 - 30

You might need someone to say once in a while, HEY THERE'S A CLIFF RIGHT THERE!

I like to do my own thing -- that way I don't have to be polite and ask what someone else wants to do or if my companions would rather go somewhere else. I tend to go into sort of a trance when I'm shooting, and people who don't know me well think I'm ignoring them. I also have the unfortunate habit of veering into alleys and side streets to find cool windows and doors. My friends then have to spend a lot of time hunting for me and that gets boring for them, or I have to spend valuable shooting time hunting for them.

OTOH, I really do like to get together with friends and look at each others pictures. I really learn a lot that way.

I usually end up shooting by myself. I don't mind if there is another photog along, but being more of a loner anyhow I don't care for groups.

I think I like talking/listening to other photographers more than shooting with them ;)
... not that i had much experience with either ,,,

Alone. Many many wonderful hours alone with my thoughts and my camera. I love that feeling of being a silent observer in a world that moves around you.

I do love meeting other photographers, but when I shoot seriously, I shoot alone.

I shoot alone, but I'll drink with almost anyone.

usually I'm alone ... don't have anyone close to me that is really interested in photography ... If I'm headed downtown or to a 'not so nice' part of town I'll drag my boyfriend or my brother with me as a security guard ...

Yes.

I like going alone. It gives me the freedom to wander where I want without worrying about who is tagging along and the fact they aren't finding it interesting enough.

I prefer my own company. That is what a total introvert do. Maybe I am too dark.....

Solo all the way...I find it very cathartic.

Definitely solo. I don't mind the occasional group outing, but I generally feel a bit constrained. I definitely see more when I'm alone. And I'm somewhat self-conscious my dinky camera while others in the group have these beautiful DSLRs.

I prefer to shoot by myself most of the time.

Socially...I don't like heading out in the woods and stuff alone. Call me chicken... *bawk, bawk*
