Hi All,

I have taken the below shot and wish to make this stand out a lot more. When it comes to using photoshop I'm a novice on how to make a shot better. Personally I like the photo veery much and would like to enter it in the March Month Challenge but I know it could be better.

Can anyone help me. If you require the higher res photo it can be arranged.

if you want to enter it in a challenge, quickly pull it back...

Regardless of challenges, i'll give advice.

Seeing as a significant part of this image is the horizon, try and make sure it is dead straight. Even if it wasn't straight on the shot, just correct in photoshop. (Image > Rotate). Just experiment until you get it right. Tip, turn the ruler or grid on. (View > Rulers, or View > Show > Grid).

The best thing to do with photoshop is to open an image, and click EVERYTHING in the "Image" menu!

But here's my take:

Sorry I didn't know that this was not allowed.

I will not be enterring the photo.

Apologies.

You wouldn't be the first person to enter an image in the Free Study that had been previously posted in the forums. While it's generally to be avoided, sometimes it happens; my February FS ended up being one that I had previously posted, unaware at the time that it would end up being the best of a dreary month.

Your image wasn't up for long and did not garner many views, based on this thread at least, so don't let that stop you if you still feel like using it when March 31 rolls around.

Mike,

If you want, I'm willing to have a look at it and offer some suggestions. Since I'm not a paid member, I can't enter or vote on the monthly free study challenge. Just PM me with your email address and I'll send mine back in return so you can e-mail the image.

Also, an easier way to straighten the horizon in PS is to use the measure tool. Check out the tutorial section for a complete description of how to use this tool for straightening an image.
