Everyone can submit a photo that finished in the top 5 or top 3 or maybe just first place photos, and we could find out what the top photo is!!

Just picture it, timj's infamous 'Taking Cover' shot, vs. jmsetzler's 'Liberty and Justice'. Would be kinda cool to check out!

there was an idea a while back about a challenge that was limited to people that had won a ribbon. just a fun challenge -- not for the purpose of excluding, but more to do what you're describing.

i don't know what happened to that idea, though.... i thought it would be fun.

Sounds to me like it would more of a popularity contest than a learning experience.

I think we already have our answer. ;)

And the number of favourites has it the other way round of course. 154 for taking cover, 144 for liberty...

I think the sugestion I made a while back was a Masters Challengeopen to anyyone who ribboned. Like a regular challenge with a challenge subject containing NEW work taken within the submition dates.

For what my opinion may be worth, I don't think this type of challenge would be beneficial at all.

Comparing scores between photos in different challenges, IMO, is worthless. My shot did score higher than Tim's shot did, but Tim's shot does have more favorites than mine does. THAT is the bottom line in my book :) Tim has the overall favorite photo on the site, and it is an great photo. It is also on my very short favorites list. It's the only photo that survived my recent cleanout of my favorites.

I am, however, supportive of the idea of a challenge that is open to anyone who has won a ribbon. I think that could possibly create a challenge full of excellent photos. I would support a challenge like that even if I wasn't able to participate in it. It should be fun to vote on :)

I have to agree that comparing different photos from different challenges is tricky, as some challenges are easier to meet than others, and thus the criteria for producing each varies.

Ribbon only winners challenge, not that I am one, would be a fun one though, but I hope it would be in addition to the standard challenges so others can still enter a challenge of some sort.

I think it should still be the standard rule set, including "taken within the challenge dates".
