In the next few months I'm planning to buy an iMac computer, and had some questions about that, along with a few Photoshop questions.

The computer I have right now I'm using Photoshop 7.0 with, and with the Mac that wouldn't be compatible unless I got a copy of Windows for it, so I could then run the 7.0 I have now. Or I could also buy CS2 or CS3 for the Mac. So my first question is what are some of the big differences between 7.0 and CS2? Also I was looking around ebay for software. I've only boughten a few things from ebay in the past. Is it safe to buy software from ebay? Would there be any problems with registration, extra?

Also does anybody own Aperture for the Mac? I doubt it would compare with Photoshop, but does anyone have any reviews about it?

And my last question...for now...is should I wait for Leopard to come out for the Mac? Or get Tiger?

Thanks everyone for your help I really appricate it. :)

I'd wait for Leopard to come out (spring 2007) hopefully they'll have new hardware too for the release.

Do be careful buying software on ebay. Make sure that the seller is reputable, and make sure that the auction states that the software is new and unregistered. If it's been previously registered, you won't be able to register and use it.
Your best bet for Photoshop is to upgrade, but you'll need to contact Adobe about how to go about moving cross-platform.

I know of a few things CS2 has on 7.0...

Shadows/Highlights adjustment, pretty slick and works well.
Spot Healing brush
Smart Sharpen (Unsharp mask works well but I prefer this now)
Auto red-eye
better RAW processing
HDR support (although I'm sure Photomatix is better)

Leopard is going to be a great OS. That with CS2 or CS3 will be great.

Thanks so much for the replies thus far. :) Does anybody have anything else they would like to add to this?
