Nah, I blame my low key entry on a not properly calibrated laptop monitor. If I had seen it on my monitor at work, I probably wouldnt have entered it the way it looked. My free study was mid 5's that about normal for me if you look in my portfolio. Its not the best shot in the world, but I liked it.....
Live and learn and get a desktop to do my post processing on and calibrate the monitor.

hehe, I'm not saying I don't give out low votes...just that most of the entries are excellent. I've given out about half 6s' and at least twice as many 7+s than 5 or less, and this is only my first pass...

I think it's great you can be comfortable with that but I never stood the logic. I also shoot for myself and I shoot for DPC when I enter the contests.

On the one hand, I know grainy photos sink like dead whales on this site.
On the other hand the piece of crap I submitted last minute to low key is hovering around 6.5.
I'll never figure it out. |

I too still have a personal best and hope it keeps up. Boy my face is starting to hurt from all the smiling. I won't be on the front page but I don't care as long as I stay in the 6's. I have received somewonderful comments and thank you all.

I agree. I can take thousands of photos that I like, but I'll never get anywhere as a photographer if I can't produce something that's appealing to others. DPC gives me a good idea of how I'm progressing as a photographer in that regard.
In the meantime...
