Snow is Ice indeed and thats why we call Iceland as ICELAND and not as Snowland. It snows there often and it hardens and becomes ice ;-)

A Chair is form of wood or wood in other form (if its a wooden chair{getting more precise here for the fear of strict DNMCers}) . I think its more of a commonsense to accept snow as ice otherwise we can stretch every form of matter to atoms, electrons etc.

WAIT!!!! That's DNMC. Diamonds are not ice...otherwise they wouldn't be called diamonds !!!! How are diamonds okay in an ice challenge, but snow isn't???

haha..sorry shuttersounds. I'm just having fun now..lol. [/quote]

I have to agree with albc28 here, if so many are argueing that snow has nothing to do with an Ice photo challenge, then diamonds have FAR LESS to do with ice than snow does...

Damn it to hell...

Me beautiful picture is only getting rating of 5.1

Why do I bother? It seems to be the problem for some of the people that rate the pictures!!! THEY DON'T BOTHER!

I am having the same problem as you with my score...

I have an in focus image, nice color, taken of ice getting a 4.6. It seems the voters are tired of winter and want some sun and sand pictures instead.

To top it all, no one has commented on what they think is wrong!

This is bullshit!

What you just said is a contradiction. First you said snow is ice but you said it becomes ice when it hardens. If it was ice to begin with it wouldn't have to become ice.

Because snow is a particular form of ice. It's not an ice cube, or a hailstone, but it is ice. Sorry. This argument doesn't hold water. Hahahahaha. Punpunpunpunpun.

Carbon is compressed & heated to become Diamond, which has the nick-name, Ice; therefore Carbon is Ice.

Last night I emailed my fellows llamas lamenting the fact there wasn't a thread debating the ice/snow issue - I truly am saddened to have found one.

OK I thought I had seen it all...
arguing about what Ice is....tooo much

Why do people have to become so technical all the time....go with the Generally accepted definition and u have no trouble...

Most people do NOT think snow is ice, you know that...
If you think that, You have to know that MOST people disagree with you. I am not saying you are wrong....I am just saying if your definition of a challenge does not fit the DPC status quo, chances are you will get dnmc comments.

If the majority see it one way, no matter how committed or passionate your definition , you will not change their collective mind

And now a return to our regularly scheduled program

Just how do you get "ICE" from compressing and heating carbon??

See definition 8A under slang.

I sure wish people would put as much effort into commenting as they have been putting into a ridiculous ice/snow debate!

One really strange comment, average score of 4.800, better than the tree challange so far, my best one yet!! Yes for me........:)
