This is a shot of my friend bowling when we went on a date last night. I tried a whole bunch of different shots and this was by far my most favorite. It was really busy, and what I like about this shot is that he looks like he's the only one there because all the pins you can se are all set up, perfect timing. I was trying to find a way to fit this into Propaganda by incorporating all the pins being the same, you know, something "symbolic," but I figured that that was too much of a stretch, I know how annoying it is to get a good shot in a challenge and have it be completely off from the challenge. The reason I posted this was to get an idea of what kind of score I would get if I were to have posted it (setting aside that it doesn't really fit the challenge).

Bowled Over

This is personally, in my opinion, one of my most favorite shots I have done. Tell me what you think, honestly, I always love to hear how I can improve. Enjoy!

It's an aesthetic, clean looking composition but I think that the interest and focal points you see in it will evade some people. I find myself looking for your friend's ball or for some action in his lane.

The connection you hope for in the lanes of standing pins is a touch distant due to the lack of clearly visible ones. Had you been further back, enhancing his isolation (which probably wasn't possible anyway), then the effect you were after may have come through strongly.

Despite your friend's dominance in the shot I find myself looking for a more pleasing focal point and I find the slight movement of his legs distracting and 'irrelevant'. This is my honest opinion but others may disagree.

PS. like your Still Life shot!

I really like the shot, as far as the colours, composition and crop go.
Your pals legs, on the other hand, detract from the overall quality.

I know you like it because they're HIS legs.. but from the point of view of what makes this image work, they need to go.

I love this shot! I'm new to DP but it looks like a fresh way to see an everyday occurrence. I especially like the reflection. I have to agree with Jon Lucas though, I did search for the ball. Maybe you could layer one in (not for a challenge).

Really cool pic.

Really, I would have to agree with you, I never really thought of these compositional things. Now that I look at it afterwards, I do notice these things, especially the whole looking for a focal point, because there really isn't a "nice" one to look at. Yeah, I also do find the legs kind of distracting. Thank you so much for your comments on this picture. It's people like you that help people's photography better, and I thank you. Also, thank you for the nice comment on my still life!
