Aha so that is where my one came from. Thanx man. I appreciate that. Stange kind of voting principles you have there.

Challenge description: "Title your image with your chosen acronym, and let your image explain what the letters represent!"

I too, noticed some very wordy titles for an acronym challenge.

Here we go splitting pubic hairs again....

I agree. What the hell difference does it make if there's an explanation in the title? Does it mean the image no longer fits the acronym? Get real people.

We may not agree with all the voters but we know fro the forums before this challenge went into voting that some voters will vote down for...
a) Having a title with more than just an acronymn (as per the description)
b) Having an acronymn they don't know
c) Having an acronymn that can't be pronounced as a word
d) Having an image that doesn't scream out what the acronymn is

If you fall into any of those then expect a few "not so nice" votes. If it helps, my image falls into one of those categories too :(

You forgot:

e) Being unimaginative by using a common acronym...

I think that covers everyone now ;^)

btw, I didn't enter this challenge. I think all the images are awesome and I applaud the creativity.

I think there are some people loosing too much time with Challenges description instead of doing photography.

I wish there were more Acronyms descriptions and make my life easy to understand some of them. I’m watching the photos in this challenge with a list of Acronyms in another window :((((

f) There will always be some who will bitch about anything, doubly so if said persons aren't sporting high scores themselves.

There now the list is complete. ;)

It means you didn't really meet the hardest part of the challenge if you have to use additional descriptive words in the title. Pretty straight-forward challenge description actually.

Here's a refresher in case you missed it the first, second, third, etc... time.

Then the photographer didn't do their job with telling the 'Acronym' story with the photo IMO. :D

You left out: "An acronym is a word created from the initials of words in a phrase, such as RAM (Random Access Memory) or DPC (Digital Photography Challenge)." Which can be taken to mean it's ok to explain the acronym in brackets.

I didn't miss a thing Barry. I understand the pedantry very well.

Some voters commended my title and even indicated they gave me a "10". I have 2 voters who thought the opposite saying: "From the challenge: Title your image with your chosen acronym, and let your image explain what the letters represent. As such you shouldn't put in your title what the letters mean. Thats what the picture was supposed to do."

Challenge description used DPC (Digital Photography Challenge) as an example. I don't think a photograph can represent DPC without any explanation on the title. D.P.C. can mean any thing. One could have gone for an acronym like w.w.w. that needs no further explanation but he could choose to enter a better image with a more uncommon acronym.

just one of the gazillion personal opinions on this thread :)

Hi all,

I'm here to apologize... my comprehention of this challenge was wrong... the comments recieved on my previous post made me think over and over at the signification of "Aconyms"

But, I see that some acronyms mentionned under some of the pictures are realy "Hard to understand" and some definition added are just superb... I think of a few LOL ... their different signification are great...

Anyway... there was no bad intention in my post... once again... so so sorry...

cheers

Since I couldn't figure out some of the acronyms, I've been having fun coming up with my own for your photos and leaving them in the comments. I hope you all don't mind and I apologize if it offends anyone.
