as said, i am on mac, and i am always suprised to see my shots (rarely however) on pc's i agree they are always LOTS darker on pc than on my mac : ( and I have taken to slightly lightening my shots so i don't get tons of 'too dark' comments.
thx for checking this out, good idea

PC. Just recently found out about this when WhidbeyPix made a comment on my Still Life submission. He said "don't like that spot in the background". For the life of me, I never saw that spot. When I checked it on a Mac, sure enough the spot was there. If I had seen it I would've fixed it. Lesson to be learned.

my Still Life entry

I never saw this white blob on my shot till my husband viewed it on his monitor and by that time it was too late to fix it. Of course I know what I did, but I never saw it. I now have changed my monitor gamma and see it.....all to clearly. Ugh!!

Any conclusive findings yet, Jon?

I'm on a Mac. I read about the monitors being light compared to a pc. There is a calibration control panel (or System Preference in X) that can fix that. It's just really time consuming and based on the users eyes.

Not sure if you will see much difference by system. Interesting thought.

I wonder if there is much difference in shots by the software you use to edit? That might be interesting.

uhm, anyways, its nothing to do with Mac or PC.
Its simply the monitor....

that white spot sticks out like ...err. awfully, simply because I have a good monitor set up correctly.

not because I have a PC running linux.
someone set up a Mac monitor wrong, it may dissapear aswell.

sorry, but you'll learn nothing from this thread, except that mac is common, pc is very common, and linux is very uncommon.

pc with a phillips 109S at 1600X1200 72hz and color set at about 11000K (custom set because the standard 9300 is slightly dim to me)I can see the spot ok on this monitor but I have a laptop that makes the spot overly obvious by chance are all the mac users using lcd displays now?

Anyway, from what I know, there is a standard mac color profile for all mac computers, but not for PC, and that is the reason why macs are preferred for desktop publishing generally...
