*sheesh*

I didn't realize going pro was so destructive to equipment. *lol*

It's not so much destructive, as your point of view changes. The camera (and it's attachments) are merely tools, tools to make money. To most folks having a bag with $20,000 in gear in it would mean a second mortgage or divorce LOL, but it's just a bag of tools.

Go to the local car dealer and step into the service bay and ask any mechanic how much money he has in his tools - he can have $5000 in the BOX alone - $20,000 is low end and I know many with over $50,000 in tools. Specific tools (which are always the most costly) enable you to get a specific job done, or done more efficiently. So it is with an 85 1.2 or a 1Dn body in the photo biz.

You'd think one whose livelihood depended on the gear would treat it extra special, but it's more like you take if for granted. She takes 4,000 images per wedding...buying a new body every year or two becomes routine, so you're not so emotionally attached to it.

It becomes's a plate, not fine china. LOL

With all that said, you'd think I wouldn't mind so much the fact that I've blown yet another shutter (the last one was just over a year ago). I guess at the rate I'm shooting with the 20D, the shutter is only good for a year. Good thing I had a spare 20D body sitting right at my feet while I was shooting. I put the lens on and memory card in and kept right on shooting barely missing 30 seconds worth of action.

I hear you. My wife keeps trying to encourage me to shoot more weddings. And I am like, "I won't shoot any weddings until I have a back-up camera." Of course, she won't let me get another camera until I start making money with it.

Which is why I want to set up a home studio. As if I screw up a shoot I can simply refund their money or let them come for another shoot. If I screw up a wedding or have a shutter fail...er sorry, I just screwed your memories for life. You can hate me now.

Get a Canon film body in EF mount. You can use your lenses, and you can use high-speed black and white film to get attractive grain and not digital crap for low light. They're pretty cheap too.
