Hi fellow DPC'ers,

Will be traveling to the US in April/May this year for about a month. However, part of this trip includes a week a week in Alaska, around 22-27 April.

I haven't finalised any part of the Alaska leg yet (apart from the flights), and am looking for some ideas on where to go / what to do etc.... to get the most out of my rather short time there.

Any input from DPC'ers, from itinerary suggestions to "Must See" to "drive routes" to "weather advice" to "photographic musts" etc. will be appreciated.

Regards
Evan

I went on a cruise to Alaska a couple years ago in late June.
The ship travelled around the southern "tail" of Alaska.

I thought Hubbard Glacier was the coolest place we went to.
The only problem is that you probably need either a boat or a helicopter to get to it.

If I were in your postion and money were not an option, I would try to take a helicopter tour to the scenic and famous areas in Alaska.

I PM'd you back - will get back with you again later too as I talk with some locals who have been here during April before.

I do helicopter supported work near the BC/Alaska border during the summer, so I get complimentary helicopter "tours" of that area all summer long. I can't recommend taking a chopper tour highly enough; for most people, its a once in a lifetime thing that you will never forget.

Don't forget your camera!
