My 300D just arrived about 2 hours ago! The 75-300 lens was here at lunch time. This was the toughest day to work, I kept wanting to wait at the window for the FedEx truck to show up. :-)

I know exactly what you mean.

I've got a new lens coming from the US to Australia via UPS. I can look at the UPS site and I know the lens arrived in Sydney about 10 hours ago and is now awaiting customs clearance. HURRY UP YOU SLACKERS!!!!!!!

There is a SMALL chance it may get cleared in time for me to have it for the weekend.... and I want to play!!!!!!!!

lol - Here's hopin' that lens gets to you before the weekend! The toughest part is knowing it's so close, yet so far....

The Canon f2.8 100mm macro :)

Can't wait to play with it. My next 18 challenge entries are all going to be macro shots, no matter what the challenge ;)

My other lenses are all zoom lenses and not good ones. It sounds like the quality of this fixed lens is quite superior to what I have already.

Seller says it is in mint condition and still has the box (which to me is a good sign as it means he looks after things). So, assuming that's the case I am laughing. He's always used a filter to protect the lens as well, though reading from other threads I think I'll keep the filter on my less good lenses but risk it without for this one and just be very careful.

UPS called an hour ago and it has all cleared customs etc. They said I SHOULD have it tomorrow, so fingers crossed :)

Way cool Simon...
I'll match you one for one on those 18 macro shots! Enjoy this one, you're going to be amazed at the sharpness & contrast of this lens.

You are gonna enjoy that camera. It's a major step up from your sony. I am looking forward to seeing some photos :)

Thanks John :-)

I'm looking forward to seeing some photos too! lol....

Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have some to post. Have a lot of reading to do! This is so much different from my Sony, and I'm excited.

BTW - That message about the cam shutting off is now in English - it was the drivers... :-)

Nope.. it's not that different at all :) It just looks and feels different, but it basically works the same way :)

I almost feel like I'm starting over with picking up a camera for the 1st time... but I know if I have a full day to just play with it, everything will seem normal again. :-)

Thanks soup!! I know what you mean. I went wish list shopping at B&H Photo for accessories.... Having not been able to use different lenses with my Sony, this is exciting stuff!

Congrats Tina. I also love my Rebel. I'm saving to get some lenses, hopefully soon. Enjoy, I'm having fun, just wish I had more time to play.

Thanks John! So far I've only been able to take 10 pictures, and they weren't of anything interesting - just making sure everything works. I'm on my way out hiking right now - so we'll see what happens! :-)
