Hi All,

I have two different shots here of the last autumn leaf on a tree. I wondered what people thought of them, which one they prefer, don't like either, etc.... just looking for a little feedback. I know which I prefer, but I'm still not sure of either of them in some respects.

Last to Leave

Second Last to Leave

All comments gratefully received.
Cheers,
Todd.

i like the cropped one better as it looks more 3d, and the details on the leaf are more prominant.

the sun glare is a bit strong on the left side.

neither do too much for me though. not that its a bad shot, just didnt seem to jump out as great to me,,,

I agree with soup, I like the first shot better for the same reasons. The placement of the leaf in the photo is also appealing to me.

I like what you did with the foreground/background isolation in Version 2. But I think the inclusion of the branch in V1 was more interesting. I think the best lies somewhere in-between...

I like the Last to Leave version best. It has less in the background making it easier to concentrate on the leaf.

Having the brabch included gives a sense of where the leaf is - where it might leave from. But I agree that the simpler composition brings your eye to the leaf. Perhaps as nshapiro says - somewhere inbetween. A crop that has a more vertical shape could foreshadow the leaf dropping down...

Technically is very well done, but what is missing is movement.

Add a trail to the leave and, IMHO, the overall message will pop-up enourmously.

Thanks for the comments..... I was undecided about whether I liked these shots at all..... I think I agree with soup though, no real wow factor....

Cheers,

Todd.
