:)
there are only 2 types of comments that I remember I haven't marked as helpful:

the first one was a straight-out "5"
the other one almost shy: "DNMC?"

I like recieveing comments, and I think I've been very very lucky with them so far:) nothing offensive, no non-existent users.

Lots of times poorly thought-out comments are made by newbies to the site, so I'll often PM them and simply ask them to clear things up. For example I got a ? for a comment. Emailed the sender and politely pointed out that ? didn't really tell me anything. They not only rewrote the comment altogether, making it much more useful and valuable, but also PM'd me too to apologize (!!!) for the original comment.

I have been guilty of the 'good shot' type of comment in the past. Now that I know a little more I try to say something more like 'I like the leading lines' or similar, just so people know why I like or don't like a shot. And yeah, sometimes I do just say 'oof'. It's not a bad thing.

I just saw this during challenge comment on a rather good photo of someone else's.

"heh. Get a brain"

Now THAT I would call one of the most unhelpful comments I have ever seen.

Pretty new to the site, and I have to say that I have been fortunate to have received comments that are helpful to me. I find myself discouraged when I receive no comments, and my scores are all in the 5-ish range. But for those same scores, with comments, I feel like I can improve - I can look at my picture with other eyes, and say, "oh, yeah...I see that."

I got a laugh out of this one (you'll have to see the title) ...

"IMO, you are correct and my vote reflects that..."
