I agree with Shutterpuppy about the "Bad" challenge having a crop of much better and creative photos. "Bad" may be easier to see because we are supposed to be "good" most of the time and someone or something bad stands out.
What is good? Really good? I thought about Nuns and churches and pious people at first and then went with a kind of "Good times" theme. I struggled with this one and there and I have come to realize without my title my photo doesn't necessarily scream "Good!" In a different challenge it may have done somewhat better. The first day it held at about 6. now...

An interesting observation, but I wonder whether there is an element that we are shown images and ideas of 'Bad' so much on news and TV that it does become easier to conjour up thoughts on it, and we get very little media input on 'good'.
I think that because of that it makes an interesting challenge and I agree with you totally that it is difficult. I certainly wish that I had been able to be more creative on my take on 'good'.
Anyway, I think there are some 'Good and Bad' shots in each of the challenges if you'll forgive the pun :-) |

Ah well - it's not going to make a 6...it was a long-shot anyway...
I think that I get the MOST frustrated when a comment comes through about the colour being "off" or that the PP on the colour was great/good/bad, when in fact I very rarely fiddle with colour beyond adjusting to how I saw it at the time...So frustrating because part of the reason I sometimes take a shot is the incredible colour saturation in Nature (my Free Study was an example of that and my Good submission is also making use of natural colour). We've all become so used to artificial HD :-( |

Some people just enjoy peeing in other people's Cheerios. I've learned to ignore the bad/stupid comments, listen to the really useful ones - OK, at least 4 out of 9 comments on my Good say it's overexposed, so I know for sure that that's a problem with a shot - and revel in the good/nice comments.
Remember too, those Cheerio pee-ers...you don't have to click on the 'Photographer found this comment helpful' box.

Thanks robinssong, I do believe in karma so feel it's good to be positive about things. And yes, you develop a hide like a rhino after awhile here, and learn a whole lot of stuff in the meantime.
Uhh..thankya, thankya verry much...I'm very proud of Octopussy, and even more proud of my patient cat for putting up with the several takes we did. And you're no slouch in the creative department either, you finished 5th in Magic/Mystery! Not shabby for a newbie! :-)
Oh yeah...my Good score back down to 3.95 or something. Right now I'm just focusing on the comments re technical stuff, using it more as a learning experience. |

So, I think judging by the lack of score updates for this challenge, not too many of us are very excited or upset about what's happening.. I started off great & in the last few days, it's been up & down, mostly down.. Currently:

Avg = 5.2961
Comments = 6
Less then 24 hours to go.. I hope to stay above 5.2 at this point.. |

Yes..2 more days to go. I was hoping I cud get up to 5.4...but it is stuck at 5.2 to 5.3 from very start till now. So I guess that is the score I am going to get. |
